My check engine light, and vsc light have been on for about 6 months now. I have taken it into my area the lexus dealership twice now. Both times they said the same code was causing the lights to be on. It was something to do with the gas cap seal. They replaced it twice but the lights are still coming on. Now they are telling me that the problem is caused by the 'charcol fuel filter' and that the replacement for that would be $700. I just wanted a 2nd opinion. Is replacing this worth it? Is there a cheaper way to fix this problem?

If you have friends that work on cars you can buy the charcol canistar online for way cheaper and there not hard to replace its just a few hoses and a few wires for a sensor i use a website called rockauto.com they have almost anything you will ever need and its pretty easy to find what your looking for as well.

2008 Lexus RX350-I have VSC OFF light flashng, along with both the TRAC light and Check Engine light on. - Why

There may be nothing wrong with the VSC or TRAC system. These lights will come on if there is a malfunction, causing the Check Engine Light to Turn On. The ECM and PCM share information with the other systems. If a fault is detected. It is possible the other systems will not function correctly. You will need to read the codes or have them read by a shop or dealership. Get prices first. This service may cost between $50. to $120. If there is anything else please feel free to write back.

If you have MIL get the codes scanned, at least they will help point you at the real cause of the problem. For the moment ignore the VSC warning until the MIL has been successfully diagnosed and cured. Nine times out of ten curing the MIL will resolve the VSC warning.
