I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The driver's side tail light does not come on, but the brake light does. I've tried changing the bulbs, switched sockets to see if it was the socket that was bad... but none of it works. I can only think that the socket I switched it with could have been bad also (both are a little discolored-but then why would the brake light work?), or that maybe it is an electrical problem.

REPLACING THE BULB IS EASY. OPEN THE LIFT GATE, LOOK TO THE SIDE THAT YOU ARE REPLACING. RIGHT BESIDE THE TAIL LIGHT THE ARE TWO SCREWS. REMOVE THEM AND TAIL LIGHT SHOULD JUST PULL OUT. MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG IT AFTER IT IS LOOSE TO MAKE IT EASIER TO REPLACE THE BULB.

I need to change the tail light on the driver's side of my Jeep Liberty. I got the screws out but cannot get the cover off. What do I do?I tried to pry it off, pull it off, and move it around to get it...

If you can get to the back side via an access panel for jack or something, you can get to the back bulb sockets. But I do believe there are metal clips that help hold the light assembly in the body as well as the screws.

Tail light won't work but brake light will

Check 10amp fuses #9 and #23 in the fuse block on outbord end of left side of dash panel. With driver door open you should be able to see the small access panel on end of dash.

Changing brake bulbs

Open the back gate of the jeep. There chould be 2 screws that hold in the light assembly. Remove the screws and pull out the assembly. Replace the bulbs and replave the housing.
