Question about 2004 Lincoln Navigator

04 Lincoln Navigator Air suspension hose got caught up in a block of snow build up on passenger front side & became disconnected. Now the truck wont lift. The air hose is re-connected, compressor worked fine trying to re-fill when the air was blowing out. Moved the truck around, is it safe to drive? How do I get the compressor to kick back on again?

There are scanners which have a function to diagnose the air-ride system. It will take a more expensive scanner that has this function to do the job. Since some electrical shops charge by the hour, a scanner pin pointing the problem in minutes will save you money. Replacing the correct part will also save money instead of financing trial and error parts buying.

Some of the system is activated by the opening and closing of your doors. Parking slope also activates the system to level. The master dump valve for maintaining pressure is located around the bottom front of the front wheel well.

While the air system is expensive, overall replacing one component is a lesser expense. If you did not have air ride the vehicle would handle differently. You get what you pay for and maintenance is a cost other people do not pay with plain steel springs.

Take your vehicle to someone who has a compatible scanner to read your air ride.

I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at our conversion kits. these convert you from the airbag to a powder coated American made steel coil spring that is guaranteed to last the life of the car. Airbags and compressors are constantly having to be replaced. Also something alot of people don't know is that theses air suspensions are not meant to be in temperatures above 90 Degrees or below 40 Degrees. That is most of the world. The temperature will cause you to replace alot of bags. and typically when your replacing a bag you are going to have to replace the compressor to because the bag had a hole or small crack in it causing the compressor to over work and it will die. Could very well be faulty relay, bad fusible link, or a fuse in general. You can trace the wiring or view a free repair manual at autozone.com to trace wires to find faulty device. You can use an ohmmeter or multi-tester to test relays and fuses.

MAY CHECK TO SEE IF LINES ARE PLUGGED WITH DEBRIE OR SUGGEST DISCONNECTING THE AIR LINES WITH VEHICLE OFF START VEHICLE MAKE SURE AIR FLOW IS COMMING OUT BOTH LINES SHUT OFF AUTO RECONNECT LINES THIS SHOULD BLEED THE SYSTEM THEN RESTART AUTO.

make sure you don't have an air leak at the springs or the compressor. but you may want to have the air suspension module checked for fault codes. the module itself may be the issue not processing the inputs correctly and mis-leveling the vehicle.

My 03 Lincoln navigators suspension went from bn fine to now the drivers side is higher than normal and the passengers side is lower than normal especially in the back ... It is also not lowering down when...


You can not use it like that

Replace the air ride suspension with conventional
shocks/struts (Strut Master or similar parts)


The Navigator system is not worth working on, from the time
it was built
EVERYONE has problems & BIG repair bills & NO success
repairing that system

Next time buy the Ford Version

My suggestion to you and all the other folks leaving questions on this board about collapsed air suspension systems in luxury cars is to fix that one by replacing it with a real spring and shock system which you can buy at www.strutmasters.com if it is economically feasible, then sell it and avoid air suspensions systems like the plague. There are legions of old 70s Citroens still sitting idle 30 years later on collapsed air suspensions systems in garages and barns all over the country which cars the buyers can't let go because they cost so damn much. Get a coleman air mattress and use it every day, see how long it really lasts.

Need to know the location of suspension switch to 2006 lincoln navigator.


The air bag suspension switch is located in the front passenger kick pannel. Use a light and get down where the front passengers feet go you will see a little red switch farther forward on the right hand side against the outside pannel.

2004 lincoln navigator, check air suspension light comes on and the air suspension doesn't work @ all.


Check your Suspension relay under you front bumper on the passenger side most of the time it get loose or just corroded from the weather (snow , Water)... clean it up and put dielectric grease in it
