My 1992 Subaru Legacy Gt Manual Gearbox is stuck/jammed. I am removing the gearbox and have removed all the bolts and everything that is in the way.. The box can be pulled out a little bit leaving about a inch gab but then it gets stuck.. real mystery why it is not coming all the way off. Any1 that can help me with some info would be much appreciated. Thanks

Ok here's a couple helpfuls before i start if you have PB Blaster, that works great on spindle bolts. Another thing you will need is a long pry bar (maybe a crowbar if you had to) with a flat tapered end. You will need to remove your tire, spray the PB Blaster on the axle nut, and the 2 spindle bolts going through the strut.remove the axle nut, and the 2 spindle bolts, and seperate the strut from the spindle. Then swing the spindle and push down on it as you remove the axle spline from the hub. Once you do that, check the transmission side of the axle, to see if it has a "doul roll pin" that you need to tap out with a hammer and punch, but it may be the simple locking ring internaly at the end of the splined shaft. Then all you do is pry it back, make sure you have a very firm place to use for leverage, and give it a hard shove and it should pop right out. or you may need to repeat the prying step a few times. When installing the new axle, make sure it's snapped in completely on the transmission side so you don't damage it. Then all you need to do is reassemble it all.
Also when doing this, make sure you support the car by the body, behind the front wheel under the fender/door area. you will need to let the lower controal arm hang to do this.
Hope that does it for you,
Good luck!

SOURCE: Oil Change queries SUBARU IMPREZA RS 2.5 2005 MODEL non turbo

I am confused - I have a simple query and logged on to your site as you offered free advice! Do you not offer the service as described on your website. I definitely don't need a team of experts to answer my very simple question.

you should have no trouble swapping the automatic transmission from one car to another just be sure that the part number on the transmission reads 4EAT the gearing has not changed much only the filtering setup the newer version is better too

All wheel drive, 5speed manual,3.5 engine. Problem: clutch went to the floor and there was liquid all over the pavement, had no problems prior to this and the peddle is still down all the way. jack

Your clutch has a concentric bearing situated inside the gearbox, oil all over means that the seal broke and when you pressed the clutch the liquid went into the gearbox, onto the disc and than out through small gaps that are always there in the gearbox. Solution is simple but time taking, you need to remove the gearbox, take out the cylinder, examine the seal, replace it, bleed it ( not like normal clutch only by releasing air via nipple), examine for any leaks and than put everything back in with a new clutch.
