You need to eliminate some possibilities.
While reading your amp draw, you can start by pulling fuses. Make sure you don't have a glove box, trunk, or hood light on.
I have had an alternator issue that had a constant draw. I removed the large wire on the alternator and the draw went away. You can do this for your starter also.
Pulling relays may also help, just go one at a time.

Battery new over night goe,s dead 1996 Chevy lumina

I would suggest getting a muleteer with a 10amp current option. Pull all the fuses and relays. Disconnect the negative battery cable and place the multimeter inbetween the negative battery post and the negative cable. You may get a small amp draw for the computer. Start replacing the fuses and monitor the amp draw. If you have an excessive draw when you first connect, it probably is an alternator issue.

good luck.

Sumthing keeps bringing my battery down.the altinator is good but my brand new battery is dead now.whats wrong

Most likely the diode from the alternator is leaks draining the battery2_bing.gif. If you believe your battery is good then recharge it to full level then do the followings: 1- Disconnect negative cable from the battery over night to see how weak it is in the next morning. If it is bad then it is the battery no other thing. 2- If it is good, take off wires from the alternator for a night, next day battery is still good then there is a problem with the alternator diode. Hope this can help.
