In 2006 Pontiac put ELECTRIC power steering in the G6's.

Your looking under the hood in the right location its just under that. its all electrical. Must have been not such a good idea because they switched back to normal power steering in 2007.

(I have an 06 G6 V6)

SOURCE: ive got a 2006 pontiac

well,. there's a couple ways to go about this.,. It would be located on the intake on or near the topside of the engine, but with all of today's stuff on the engine, it may be difficult to locate as you are finding,. typically it would be around a housing on or near where the radiator hoses are going into the engine, but may be other,. to really cut the chase, you may want to get a copy of a chiltons or haynes repair manual for your year make model - CAL Ahead to be certain of availability to your local library or auto parts store where you could take one out or purchase it..

I have a 2006 Pontiac G6 GT 3.5L V6, and I can't find where to put power steering fluid in it. Can anyone share a diagram, please?

Not all power steering systems are hydraulic. I think some G6 models have electronic power steering so no fluid is needed. Referring to the owners manual it appears that only the 3.9L uses a hydraulic system. If there is a reservoir it will either be tucked behind the alternator or mounted on that end of the engine. The top mounted reservoir filler cap is on top of the engine to the left of the oil filler cap.

Hose routing diagram for 2006 Pontiac G6 3.5 liter V6

On the 2006 G6, it is mounted to the power steering pump near the alternator. Remove the dipstick from the reservoir. The fluid level should be in the cross-hatched area of the dipstick. Add small amount of power steering fluid until the level is correct.

Cant find the location for Power Steering Pump for Pontiac G6 2.4L

That's because there is no hydraulically assisted power steering on 4-cyl model G6.The assist comes from a shaft-mounted servo motor. Completely electrical. Good luck with that thing as they are plagued with problems.

Where is the fill cap for the power steering fluid resevoir for a 2006 Pontiac G- GT 3.5 v6 ?

Stand over the left front fender. Lean over so you can see past that side of the engine. You'll see the black cap on top of the trans on that side. Is your trans slipping between 1st and 2nd when it's warmed up? 'cause mine is.

What does it mean when the power steering trouble light comes on over the radio of a 2006 pontiac g6

well... if you have electric power steering (no reservoir located in engine), you have a common problem that affects almost all owners with this type of cheap steering system (expensive to fix though)
GM should be ashamed

Cant find the power steering pump on my 2006 pontiac g6 3.5l its not under the altenator

you most likely have ELECTRIC power steering not HYDRAULIC
when you open the hood the engine cover will have the engine oil cap and the power steering cap showing if you only have the engine oil cap showing then you have ELECTRIC power steering

Does the power steering cap on a pontiac G6 have a picture of a steering wheel and waves (indicating fluid)? Is it on the passengers side on top of the motor?

Hello! The power steering reservoir cap is black and does have a yellow picture of a steering wheel on it. It would indeed be located on the passenger's side of the engine, about halfway on the length of the motor. However, if you are unable to locate yours, you have a G6 equipped with the electronic steering system, which has no reservoir. A good way to determine this is if your car has the V6 engine, if it does - you have the electronic system.

Hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa!

Where is the power steering resovoir on a pontiac G6 2006

Hello! If you have a V6 engine - then the resevoir is located on the right side of (as your facing) the motor, and roughly centered on the engine's side. You will see a cap with a yellow symbol that looks like a steering wheel. If your car is a 4 cylinder - you have an electric steering system, and therefore, no power steering fluid reservoir is present, or necessary.

Hope this helps!
