Coolant fan not coming on hyundai xg 350

Generally when there is 2 electric fans one is controlled by the engine control module and the coolant temp sensor for maintaining engine temperature and the other is controlled by the air conditioning control module used when the a/c is in operation. If engine temp starts to get near the red then both fans come on at high speed. If you want to make sure the other fan works though then just put 12vdc to it directly and see if spins. For it running hot I would replace the thermostat if it has never been done and replace the coolant. Put in a 50/50 mix.

I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent. My air conditioning is not working. The heater, fan, blowers and everything else are working fine. I was told that is was the a/c switch, so I had it replaced and it did not...

With the wire to the compressor unplugged, see if 12 volts is present at the plug. If voltage is present, then check the terminals on the compressor clutch for continuity. ( voltage meter in beep mode) Volt meter will beep if clutch coil is good, no beep, clutch coil is bad. Also low Freon pressure will disable clutch via low pressure switch at the accumulator. Always check pressure and add Freon to low side(large tubing) A freeze hazard and explosion hazard (high side, small tubing) exist when handling Freon. Wear safety glasses and be careful. Also cooling fans should run continuous when A/C is on

9@how to fix dtc p1178 and p1118 on a 2002 hyundai xg350

I live in Australia & have a Hyundai Grandeur XG 3LT V6 2002 model (US equivalent is Hyundai XG300).
Fault codes are P1118 (ETS motor fault) & P1178 (ETS motor battery voltage open). An intermittent fault.
The first code denotes general area of the fault & the second code denotes the specific fault.
So the specific fault is that the ETS-PCM computer is not receiving 12V on pin 2 with ignition on.
'Check engine' light remains on & car is in 'limp home mode' with very little power & poor performance.
I had purchased the Hyundai service manual online (ebook about $8) for the US model. Could not find any
manual for the Australian model. On page FLA-52 found the block diagram for the whole ETS system.
I am a retired electrical engineer so now it became easier for me to find the fault.
There are 2 computers behind the center console. PCM & ETS-PCM.
Pin 2 of the ETS-PCM should have 12V present when ignition is on.
In fault mode 12V was not present. This 12V is supplied from ETS 15A fuse (fuse box under dashboard)
via a relay (i will call this relay the ETS relay). The 15A fuse was OK but the 12V was only
intermittently being passed through the relay points. Relay is located near ignition switch on a
sub panel which has about 6 relays on it. ETS relay was at right bottom corner of sub panel.
Yellow wire feeds the 12V (which is always present even with ign. switch off) to the relay points.
White wire is the output wire from the relay points which feeds 12V to pin 2 of the ETS-PCM computer.
Measure if 12V is present at white wire when ign. switch is turned on (no need to start engine)
I only had the 12V present intermittently. So pulled out the ETS relay - tested contacts with
ohmmeter & found to be only making contact intermittently when relay lever depressed
- removed relay case by grinding away one corner of the case - cleaned the relay points with fine sandpaper.
replaced the relay case & taped with black insulating tape to keep out dust. Tested relay with ohmmeter & points
now OK. Fault is now cleared & car is operating normally.
Also had previously purchased on Ebay a Can OBD11 scanner for $15 which read the fault codes OK.
Hope this helps other people with similar problem.

Need to know what these code means p1118,p1110,p1178

Hi Friend:

In checking your Codes heres the Data.

#1) P1118 -->> this code is sending a signal that your ETCS =Throttle Motor is Either Damaged or it has Failed.

#2) P1110-->> this code is showing that your PCM (Control Module) has received a Signal that your you have a problem with your Throttle Body.

#3) P1178-->> this Code is Indicating that Your Electronic Throttle Motor Battery has a Open Circuit.

Sir, I would start checking your Fuses before you Spend a Bunch of Uneccessary money. It could be that your ETCS Fuse is blown, This could be causing All these Codes.but theres is still a chance that you'll get a Code after changing the ETCS Fuse.

Note: you have Fuse Blocks inside your Vehicle and Under your Hood as well, They'll be Labelled Fuses and Relays.

I hope this Fuse solves ALL your Problems sir. Please let me know how my Solution has helped you by Voting for me and a Testamony would be Appreciated.

Gt500 takes a long time for to cool down the interior. Outside airtemp is about 100 F. Used Max cool controls with fan selected to max as well. Took to the dealer twice and leak was repaired or so they...

You can add a can of stopo leak to the unit yourself. Locate the unit, you will see a dryer and on the side of the dryer you will see a valve for adding freon. Purchase the correct type of freon. R-22 or R-134A with a dispenser. Start the car, turn the AC on high connect and add the freon. If it cools down the leak is still present. Take it back to the dealer.
