I have same problem. get ready to pay around 2400+. as a matter of fact mine is in the shop right now. you cannot check the fluid yourself. it's up under the bottom. no dip-stick. its a joke, i have a 99 rodeo. will drive it long enough to get my 2400 out of it and then its a gonner !!!! sounds like it is going to create alot of problems if i keep it.

How much damage(if any) will putting in tranny fluid cause without the engine running??

Not sure why you ask the question. You probably check the trans fluid level with the fluid warmed up and engine running. If you have an Owner's Manual, check there for the procedure. If you don't have one, I suggest checking the level as I show above, then add fluid if needed in small amounts with the engine running, check the level after adding every SMALL amount (you do not want to overfill the trans. and stop adding when it's between add and full.

Can my transmisson on my 2002 isuzu rodeo be low on fluid. It does go into gear but .But it does not go very far.Like the transmisson is slipping

I suggest bring the vehicle to a repair shop to :
a) check for leaks and ATF condition ( burnt smell ,shavings, and coolant in ATF) Any one of these conditions may indicate a rebuild.
b) if no leaks are found and ATF is in decent condition fill tranny to proper level and check for slipping.
c) if slipping doesn't happen after level is brought up to specs, DO a transmission oil filter and ATF change.(and be thankful you gotta away cheap.
d) if slipping still happens after level has been topped off
they(repair shop) will either "Stall Test it or pressure check the transmission " Good luck

I am unable to locate the dip stick for my transmission. I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo LSE. Where is it located?

Auto Trans.and manual Rodeo has no dipstick. Fluid levels must be checked from underneath the vehicle on a lift at the shop. It can only be filled from underneath the vehicle as well.

I cannot find where to put the transmission fluid in my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. There is not an area on top to put more fluid, let alone check the fluid.

I have a 1995 rodeo with an automatic. the fluid level is measured on the dipstick, which is next to the oil dip stick on the v-6 anyway. you add fluid by removing a plug unedr the vehicle mounted up near the center of the transmission.

99 RODEO

If you can't find a dipstick you must fill and check through the level plug in the side of the trans ( usually just above the pan rail on the drivers side)
