Taking out any front drive transmission is a BIG pain in the ****! However, it can be done in your driveway or garage using minimal tools. In my experience, I found that it was easier and faster to drop the whole front subsection(engine and transmission) due to not owning a car lift, like most shops have. This can be done using two heavy duty floor jacks, four to six jack stands and or some blocks of wood. The taller the jack stands the better. First disconnect all the wires, hoses(drain the coolant first) and exhaust system. If the car is equipped with A/C dismount the compressor and tie it to the radiator support using a strong wire. This is so you don't lose any R134a, as well as help keep cost down. Raise the car to the point that the front tires are off the ground by only an inch or two. Support the front subsection using a jack and jack stand or two. Remove the rear subsection bolts. Unbolt the struts from the strut towers(under the hood). Leaving the wheels on will allow for easy maneuvering of the subsection once you have it out. Once you have disconnect the front subsection mounting bolts, use both jacks to get it lowered to the ground in conjunction with your wood blocks. Now the front will have to be lifted enough to wheel out your subsection. Hope this helps.

Unless you have lift to access the bottom of the car, and a transmission jack, dont attempt it.

I do not have a credit card so i cannot pay online but i can get a moneygram, money order, etc.... I just wanted to know how hard is it to change the clutch in the tranny?

It is a big job that will require the transmission to be removed, then the clutch and pressure plate removal. It is not a job for the average person. No need to pay, this one is free.

Need to replace my clutch in a toyota avensis 2002, 1.8 vvti. Its slipping badly, can't really grumble its done 94.000 miles on the original clutch. As a DIY project, is this job a big job? Last time I...

I have a 2001 Avensis 1.8 VVTi and just had to strip the engine to change the piston rings - the clutch was easy, compared to the rest. The Haynes manual has it all in and the job may take some time. I had access to a fully equipped car hobby club to do mine and i still took 50 hours to out the engine and strip it.

But to be honest, dropping the tranny is the biggest part of the job, the rest is 8 bolts and a clutch plate.
It's the disconnection of the tranny thats the tme consumer - the procedure simplified is - wheel off, track rod end off, wishbone off, CV joint out, electrics to tranny off, support the engine on blocks, support strut off, tranny off, clutch off.
As they say in the Haynes Manual - 'Replacement is the reverse of removal'

Hope this helps in deciding what to do!

1994 CHEVY 1500, HOW DO I CHANGE THE TRANNY MYSELF?

Buy a Haynes manual for your vehicle. If you don't have a vehicle lift or access to one, I would recommend paying someone to do it. It's a big job. You will need a transmission jack and a full set of SAE wrenches and sockets.

How much is a transmission seal for a 2004 toyota corolla s? Is it a hard job to fix it

The seals are cheap. Usually around $10. If its an outer seal, very easy job. If its the front seal you have to pull the tranny and big job

Transmission seal is leaking. It appears

To replace the front seal, it's a bit involved and you'll need the proper equipment and tools: Floor jack, transmission floor jack, jack stands to get the truck elevated enough to pull the tranny.
IF it's an automatic, you'll have to take the bellhousing loose from the motor, driveshaft(s) out, remove tranny and torque converter, all lines, linkages, drain oil.
If you don't have much mechanical experience, you may want to have someone else tackle it for you. It's doable, but it's a bit of work.
If you're going to attempt the repair, I would recommend purchasing a repair manual such as a Haynes, or possibly a CD service manual. The step by step instrucitons would get you through the job, plus you'd have access to oil and torque specs to do the job correctly.
ps: if this is the REAR seal, it's a simple job of dropping the driveshaft and replacing the seal.

Tranny

Chryslers need clean transmisson fuild and the right type of fuild. I would check the transmisson fuild level and top up if needed. If the fuild looks old and dirty have the transmisson serviced witha fuild and filter change - 50-100 buck could save you big $$$ on a trans job later
