Hello fellow sufferer ........ You have joined an ever growing club of Jaguar owners who cannot connect any phone other than the one that Jaguar will supply - at large cost. There does not seem to be an easy answer ... I took my car to a specialist and he could not get it to pair either so I bit the bullet went to the Jag dealer and ..... he couldn't do it !!!!! I have bought a stand alone blue tooth unit that accepts my phone and my wife's phone and they all log on with no trouble every time I step in the car. I gave up - but you may be more stubborn - good luck with your quest and please post the solution if you are successful

After replacing an ignition switch and unit in a 2003 jaguar x-type with a used one, will the car still need to be programmed by a dealer to be able to start the car?

Before spending lots of dosh i woudl try pairing my keys as follows:-

1.)I would recommended that you ensure all key fobs are fitted with new batteries. ( Click here to see battery replacement guide).
2.)Get in the car and close the drivers side door.
3.)Put the key into the ignition and turn to position I.
4.)Wait 5 seconds
5.)Turn the key quickly to position II then back to I four times.
6.)You should hear a single chime.
7.)Remove the Key
8.)For each Keyfob in rapid succesion. Press any single button on the keyfob you wish to pair, you should hear a chime as each Keyfob is paired with the security system. After the chime do the next Keyfob.
9.)Check operation of each Keyfob.

I bought a 2003 jaguar xtype used a month ago and it came with only one key can i buy one already programmed ,if not what do i need to buy and in what order?

You can purchase pre-programmed keys only from Jaguar. However you can purchase keys on the internet and match them to your car as follows:-

Jaguar X-Type Programming (Pairing) a Remote KeyFob X-Type 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0L

Programming or pairing a new remote Keyfob for the X Type is a very simple job that will cost a substantial amount if it is done by Jaguar. It's annoying but this may need to be done if your Keyfob battery has been allowed to go flat, or the car battery has been removed for any length of time.
Follow these steps exactly and you should have no problems, pairing old or replacement Keyfobs for your car.

Blackberry storm will not syncronise with 2006 XJ6

If I remember rightly doesn't the Jaguar system give you a code you have to type into your BB? I run an earlier model than yours, but when I get a loaner, I seem to remember that you have to do this. So, go to pairing mode, get the code and tap that into the BB when it asks for the code. I have had no problem pairing my BB with any of the new Jags from X type, S type and XJ.
