Hi my name is Tom and I can help you. All manufacture res of coolant make the same coolant. There are standards set my government. I use Prestone, but andy coolant will do. I trust this is helpful to you.
Looks like a head gasket failure. Oil is escaping out of the engine and within the engine into the coolant passageways. The oil pressure system is run at higher pressure than the coolant pressure and fortunately this has so far kept the water from entering the oil and crankcase. I have no faith at all in any after-market product that claims it can repair leaks by simply adding it to the coolant or oil and taking a head off is not a trivial task. It may also be that the head has warped (this would also cause the leak) and this in turn will require it to be re-machined. Head gaskets are not expensive but due to the work involved this could be one occasion when a visit to a machine shop is the best option.
Take to a shop they have special equipment to do operation. Special procedures for bleeding air from the system and they can recycle the old coolant. Very toxic for the enviroment.
Here is the definition of the code in GM manual: P0128 - Coolant Thermostat Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature, this indicates the engine is running cold, u need a thermostat
First which engine do you have? If you have the Ecotec 2.4 4 cylinder you should be able to use a 32 millimeter socket with an extension. Some oil will run off of the filter but should not be real hot. Drain all of the oil from the engine first. Chilton's is a good manuel to use.
