Problem with 1994 Escort Seat belts

On my girl friend's 1994 Ford Escort GT, the automatic seat belts that come across your chest no longer move, they always stay in the position of being locked back near the shoulder. On the driverside belt, we can sometimes hear the motor trying to move the belt, but nothing ever come of it. It stopped working during this past winter. The seatbelt light always says lite on her console. I have checked her fuses and none are blown. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to repair this problem, or if you think she should see a mechanic about this. Thank you in advance. Zach locks in the seat belts are not working, both front seats and rear as well..seat belts are not working ,

Just bought a 95 escort same problem on passenger side. Mine was the door latch, it's covered with a rubber boot to make contact when shut. If the boot is wore out it makes contact all of the time causing it to stay in the shut door position. Being handy I cut a piece of plastic from a fast food place and fit it in between to break the contact when up. Belt moves as it should now.

1997 Chevy Suburban. I closed the door on the seat belt on my Chevy Suburban. Now the door won't open and the seat belt appears to be caught on the door latch mechanism. How to open?

Question moved from Seat (Spanish Car maker) to Chevy.

Brute Force. Get in through the passenger side and roll down the window. Have a friend hold the door latch open. Lay across the front seats and push with your feet. Have another friend take video and be famous when it unlatches and your friend goes flying. :>D

Inspect the seat belt material for damage and replace if necessary.

Fasten your seat belt? If you have your seat belt on, there may be a problem with your seat belt switch.

I'm no expert by any means but I also have a 94 Ford Escort Wagon, its pretty sweet :) I had this problem a year ago and found out there is a rubber band or track that was defective. I couldn't afford to change out the motor so I helped the moving mount back up the track when the motor was turning. Then I disconnected the power to the seatbelt motor unit on the bottom of the B post right behing the driver's seat. Now, you have to manually attach both seat belts all the time but it saved me spending $100 on the wagon and still retaining all the safety it has to offer. Hope this helped, if only you can get the mount back up the track one more time you'll be good! Oh yeah, also, you won't have power that turn's on your dome light anymore when you open your door. I'm going to work on that though and will let you know if I can bypass it to still give it power.

you cannot move or modify the seatbelt anchorages in any car.do NOT use a cushion to raise yourself up in the seat as the antisubmarineing design will then not work.the only way is to totally modify the front end with a roll cage with a full harness fitted.cost about £2k/$3k from a racecar centre.

Automatic seatbelt stopped moving on the drivers side on my 1994 ford escort lx.What are the steps to follow to fix this?

There is a small circle of plastic on the lower part of the B-pillar of the car, use the Allen wrench that should be in your owners manual to turn the screw inside until it is all the way up then use the emergency disconnect to get in-out. A bit inconvenient but at least you will have a seat-belt.

Power seat belts on a 94 escort dont work

they don't make these anymore, the problem is the belt motor almost every time or the drive nylon ribbon breaks, your only hope is to find a used one, use goggle search, use this in search window "used part request for a 1994 Ford Escort passive restraint seat belt" fill out the form that comes up and one or moe wrecting yards will contact u. I am a 25 year Ford dealer tech and know this info for sure.
