This is a likely "fail safe". Have your coolant temperature sensor tested. If the temp sensor is faulty, it could keep the fans on as a safety so the engine does not overheat.

Fan keeps coming on after engine turned off

Most cars with electric cooling fans incorporate a feature that will turn on the fan after the engine has been turned off until the radiator has cooled down. If it keeps coming on after cool down and is draining your battery, then you need to replace the switch that controls the fan.

2004 mini cooper fan starts running while idle. temp red lines when idle?

You either have a leaky hose or need a thermostat the fan is designed to come on to cool the radiator down when the engine heats up. have flushed your system lately it you may need to do this as well.

Mini Cooper temperature gauge goes to red zone, fan comes on

If you have a new thermostat, then your temp sensor is faulty. If sensor is new, then it is the wiring to sensor or problem with the ECM

Overheat, and running fan

check your oil and coolant level to be on the safe side but it sounds like everything is normal if there is no airflow across the radiator the fan will operate when the engine gets hot even with the engine off
