Not getting gas. if i put gas into carp it'll start till it runs out. I was stopped @ stop light saw service engine soon light come on and stepped on gas pedal & it died. had it towed home.
I also have this problem. I have 2 gas tanks and when I push the toggle switch inside the cab, I can hear the fuel pump runing for a few seconds. The truck starts for a few seconds but then shuts down no matter how much I pump the gas. I checked the gas feed cable from the foot pedal to the carb and it works ok. When I put gas directly into the carb it runs for a few seconds but no amount of pumping on the gas pedal gets gas into the carb. I recall that on the Fords there is a button inside the cab that needs to be reset when the ignition system shuts down. Is there a similiar buttong/switch on the Chevy? Thanks. Email me at: [email protected] if you have any suggestions. Thanks. JC

I would check for proper fuel pressure. Sounds like your pump might be on its way out. For a TBI engine you should have around 10PSI at the throttle body.
So many things that could cause this problem, have the fuel pressure checked, and then maybe a stopped up cat(converter). If it has jumped time it will have this symptom also.
