I just bought a 10 year old Mercedes E270 CDI. 2 weeks later I sent for servicing. After servicing the next dayI had to take back the careto the workshop as the wiper tank completely ran oiut of water due to leakage in the connection. It was rectified Now the console shows the message.."check coolant level" This message comes off and on. Upon checking the water level is full. WHat could be the problem.

These cars don't have a dipstick (really!). Using the steering wheel controls you can get to a page on the computer output (middle of speedo) that will give you an indication of oil level. Sorry I don't recall exactly which page it is, but the manual explains - I'm sure you can google it. If you do a normal journey (so the engine is up to temp) and then park on a level surface and wait a few minutes you get the true reading from this function. If you ask me it's all too clever for it's own good...
