Sounds like the ignition system is not firing the spark plugs if starting fluid and gasoline doesn't solve the problem.

Verify by putting a spark tester on one of the spark plug boots and attaching the spark tester to the engine block or ground.

Ran my car outta gas put a lil under a gal in started acting up put gas in at gas station now its not running right at all
Year make and model ? You may have cooked the pump or picked up some junk from the bottom of the tank, if the fuel pump is in the tank.
Running on less than 1/4 tank is tough on an in-tank pump.

hi it is proble emty at 1/4 tank your gage is proble off try at 1/4 tank to fill tank all the way up an check an see if how many gal. you put in it an check your owners manual to see what size tank an that will show you if the gage is off !

Ran out of gas,put 2 gals in tank got it started drove 25 miles, now it wont start. engine cranks but wont start and cant smell even the faintes hint of gas....
the debris from the bottom off the tank may have clogged the fuel filter and or the injectors. theres no fuel getting into the engine, change fuel filter, thats about $25.00. if problems persists try an injector cleaner.

try to put 2 gal of gas.
if you run out of gas, the system require little more than a gal of gas to get from the pump in the tank through the filter to the injector. Approximately 1gal just to pressured the fuel rail.

Ran out of gas
there should be a manual pump on top of the fuel filter . pop the hood and look for the fuel filter and try to pump the fuel filter. that should pump the gas to the intake and start the engine.similar to priming a carburetor .
