The electric fan is controled by the on board computer in your car and it is not important weather it came on when you started your car or not. What is important is that it comes on when the computer commands it to do so. Has the car been overheating or anything? When the engine reaches a Predetermined temperature in the computers programing, the computer well turn the fan on.If the fan never comes on any more and the engine is overheating then let me know and I will assist you with the problem. Good Luck and have a good XMASS.

If it's an electric fan, it may just be that it has to warm up before the fan kicks in.

As we do not have this model Mazda in the USA, so you will need to try and find an owner's manual, try eBay motors for a used one.

Mazda V6 gas engine no radiator and coolant leaks but keeps on losing its contents causing overheating

Replace the radiator cap with the proper temp range.Check the rubber gasket on the cap used now.If the cap is not high enough pressurewise, temperature will force the coolant out.Rigger sayreplace the radiator cap with the proper pressure cap for that engine/body design combination.

2001 mazda running hot, changed water pump, themerstat and themerstat case, still runs hot. Once the fans come on to coll the motor, it is so loud, could the fans motor be the problem?

Yes it could. Not turning fast enough will create an overheating problem. Also let it go long enough it could break and take out the radiator.

Hi, in order to top up power steering fluid, where can i locate it on a mazda friendee

In the engine compartment, towards the front look ofr components that are driven by the main belt. A picture of a power steering pump can be seen on this page in this link:

Notice the cap on the top where fluid is filled.

The fan motors keeps running after car is shut off. Also sometimes fans start when car is started cold.

If the fans didn't run any further the engine continues to warm and possible seizure will occur. This is also the reason you will probably go through batteries in the long run. Hopefully this helps the issue you are having.

2001 Mazda Protege cooling fan or thermostat

I am realizing that the cooling fan in this car is very important. It has two in case you didn't notice. The driver side fan motor is bad in mine and the only result is poor air conditioner performance in stop and go traffic. It's fine at high speeds. I would think the thermostat is likely the culprit in your case, but if the fans are not working at all, you should get those replaced. The motors may be bad in both, which could definitely cause overheating. I've been researching prices and you should be able to get the parts for less than $100 each and installation is just a couple of bolts on each assembly.
