Year make and model might help a bit. Things to check for are starter, alarm, spark, fuel. Does it make any noise while cranking, does it crank. The more info you supply the better the answer
You need to find someone who knows how to test the electrical circuits , check the battery , battery connections ! Do the headlamps light ? or they bright ? Does the dash light up when you turn the key on ? Without testing we would only be guessing , could be a lot of different thing's .The clicking sound is probably the starter relay . The starter could be bad , wiring problems , main battery feed cable to the starter . Testing is the only way of finding what's wrong, not guessing . Starter Voltage Drop
Looking at a wiring diagram to see what all is involved for the starter to work . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on engine ,then under subsystem click on starting . Click search button . then blue link . Does the vehicle have manual or automatic transmission ?
Do you know what a relay is and how it works ?
In this video he shows horn relay but the starter relay works the same way . Starter relay located in the under hood fuse box . VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis
Learning how it works then learning how to test electrical circuits is how we fix automotive electrical problems , not guessing an replacings parts .
NICE TOUCH WITH THE CABLES BUT ALWAYS USE A METER FOR A COOL TWENTY BUCKS AT THE PARTS STORE TO SEETHE LEVEL OF THE BATTERY ABOVE AND BEYOND 12.90 VOLTS IS USUALLY REQUIRED BUT FULL CHARGE IS WHAT YOU NEED ALWAYS. IF THE CHARGE WONT HOLD ON A ACTUAL "BATTERYLOAD TEST" BITE THE BULLET AND GET A BETTER BATTERY
did you get anyone to check the codes?
the trac off light will come on if the ignition module goes the module sits on top of the engine it has silver fins and is held in with 3 torx screws. it sells for about $100 so you might want to have someone diagnose this hope this helps
