What I think is your calipers are used to being in the outer extension of the piston stroke. when that happens sometimes moisture can set in and oxidize the piston surface, now when you shove the piston back into the caliper to clear the new pad it will stick to the walls of the bore and put to much pressure on the pads then come heat and warp. Next time you replace it buy the preloaded caliper and pad combo an bob your uncle, which mean you should be good. hope this helped.

sounds like you have a worn wheel bearing which is replaced as a hub assembly the rotor just sits on the hub and wheel hold rotor tight

The first problem that I see is.....
You got screwed, the rear brake shoes and the parking brake shoes and the same thing. The parking brake uses your back brake pads to set the brake.
Sorry man

Hi joelalthomas, if they replaced your brakes and you never even made it home they had better warranty the work and as for the "it was a common problem on 2002-2004 trucks" well check for Chevy recalls as this is a safety issue that would have been corrected at no expense to the vehicle owner, do a little more research my friend and let me know what happens, I will check around a little as well in the meantime I would find a new garage.Do not pay any more as you said your brakes worked fine until they worked on it good luck to you As for your 4x4 did you look at the left side when you did the right side? and were they bled off properly? you can visually check to see if the calipers are functioning

If the brake peddle went to the floor it is indicating either a faulty master cylider or there is a breach in one of the brake lines. check the brake fliud for a low level and look for any leaks around the complete area of the ground under the truck for a stained road surface this will point you in the right direction inregards to where the rusted brake line or broken rubber brake hose is located, as for a grinding sound when applying brakes sometimes the inner pad and rotor surface is hard to inspect because the veiw is obstructed by the splash guard on the inner side of the rotor and brake caliper/pad assembly, the only effective way to check the rotors and pads is to remove the calipers and inspect, some guys use a small flashlight to peer through the small gap in between the caliper an spash shield to try to see the condition of the back surface of the rotor I don't prefer this method I like to be thourough. By the way a simple test to check the master cylider is as follows, with truck in park and engine running slowly agently push the brake pedal down if it goes nearly to the floor the master cylinder needs replacing especially if the brake fluid reservoir has not lost any fliud.
