You might want to have someone do a cranking test on your car.
There's alot of reason why, but this might be the cause:
1.Sometime the battery will test good, but it's not alway good. A easy to test, when your
car is cranking slow. Have other car jump yours or use a jumper pack to jump you car. If yor car crank nomal and fire up. You got a bad battery.
2.check your connector at the starter. loose or rusted connector will cause that.
3. you might have a bad starter that is starting to fail.

I don't think your alternator will be causing your problem because in alot of case that the alternator has fail, the battery light will come on.

good luck and hope this info help you in your quest.

2010 Honda Odessey Handicap Van won't start after sitting for a couple of days. Have a new battery best from Sears. Mileage is @7K miles. and we don't use the van to often.

Not clear what is happening but you say it does not run a lot of miles. I do know even with a new battery the van must run every once in a while to keep the battery charged up. Batteries run down just sitting and has to run at least a number of miles to charge up. I suggest you purchase a little battery charger that you can leave hooked up to the battery all the time and when you want to use the van just pull the plug out of your extension cord. Then plug it back in when you are back home. That way you know the battery is charged fresh all the time. You might want to have the battery checked for power just to make sure the battery is operating properly. Any place that sells batteries should do this for free.

Restating 2000 odyssey after warmed up

not sure what that means.
lets start over.
your saying car runs great, cold then hot.
then hard to restart a hot engine, right?
the light thing i dont understand
first off, when you stall and engine or just key ON.
the lamps all self test (read the operators guide there)
this is only a lamp test.
odd, the most important is skipped the CEL, check engine light.
is the engine stalling?
hot restarts, fails are: many.
  1. injector leaking at shut down.
  2. ECT reads to cold when hot. can be below caused
  3. Engine thermostat stuck open and restarts are over rich and floods. that hot engine must be at 180F or more,
  4. never did a 60,000 mile tuneup this decade?
  5. Fuel pressure too high.
i do tune ups first.
then check coolant temperatures, hot. 180F min, and holding or i kick the thermostat to the curb (new stat time)
if it sill dont want to hot start
out comes the scan tool
i scan it, got DTC errors.
is ECT reading 180F ? or above?

that is start on diagnosis.

Reset factory alarm

There IS a reason it comes on. It isn't there for looks, it serves a purpose. Verify you have the right amount of oil. Make sure when the oil is changed it is the right viscosity and weight recommended by Honda (probably a 5W-30). When it's cold, the oil is thicker and harder to pump. So typically people in colder climates should run a lower weight oil in the winter (probably 5W30 in the winter, and 10W30 in the summer)

2004 Odyssey, heat and A/C do not work unless van in motion

Since warm air eventually comes out when the vehicle is in motion, you may have an air mix door that is stuck in fresh or is somehow blocking warm air from the heater core.

To see if the air mix control motor is bad, you need to retrieve your Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) from the heater control panel. To run the diagnostic function, do the following:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Turn the fan switch OFF.
3. Press the recirc control button to select Recirc (recirc light on.)
4. Press and hold the recirc button to select Fresh (recirc light off) and continue to hold the button down until the recirc light comes on for two seconds and then goes off.
5. If the system is okay, the recirc light stays off.
6. If there is a problem, the recirc light blinks the DTC to indicate the trouble. One blink=a problem in the air mix control motor circuit. Two blinks=problem in the mode control motor circuit
Three blinks=problem in evaporator temp sensor circuit.
7. Turn the ignition switch off to cancel the self diagnosis function. Run the diagnostic again after repairs are complete.

Note: the air mix control motor has a rod which connects to a plastic link. The link controls the mix doors and also connects to the heater control water valve via a cable. The air mix motor may check okay, but if the link is broken then you will still have problems. the motor is on the bottom of the heater unit in the front passenger's foot well.

Transmission Fluid explodes out under hood.

this year of van had a recall for the transmission because the second gear was getting too hot. It required a dealer to install a special part that spliced into the transmission cooler lines and dumped fluid down the transmission fill plug hole and onto the second gear. Perhaps under high speed, the slice is leaking. Check to see if you have this part and see if the splice clamps are loose. If so, tightening them may help.

Van won't start when weather is cold

Try using higher octane fuel or octane boost in the winter this is a common problem on the dodge V-8s,after about 60,000 miles. However yours sounds like fuel line freeze up V-8s experience moisture in the fuel lines. Higher octane should help you may also wish to change your fuel filter, and run a fuel line cleaner through your van Seafoam is a good one.
