2010 GMC Yukon, back hatch window opens by itself - particularly as the driver door is opened or if the engine starts.

Liftgate Window
The liftglass can be released placing the transmission in P (park), unlocking all the doors and then pressing the liftgate window release switch located next to the license plate light. The BCM monitors the liftglass release signal circuit and when the switch is pressed, the voltage drops below 1 V. When the BCM detects the voltage drop, it will send a liftglass release command to the rear window wiper motor which will provide voltage to the liftgate window latch assembly and will activate the liftgate window release actuator to release the liftglass

I would take it to a qualified repair shop that has a professional type scanner that can view BCM DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes an can view rear hatch switch input data
DTC B3265 00: Trunk/Hatch/Liftglass Release Output Circuit

The liftglass release switch is an input to the body control module (BCM). The BCM supplies battery voltage to the signal circuit and when the release switch is activated the signal circuit voltage goes low. The BCM controls the liftglass release actuator through the rear wiper motor control module. When the release switch signal is activated the BCM applies battery voltage to the liftglass latch release signal circuit. The rear wiper motor control module supplies voltage to the release actuator through the liftglass release actuator control circuit.

Does your vehicle have a Power Liftgate or manual ?
tip

Fuel door manual release.

This tip is for 1997-2004 Corvettes:
This is something that will save you some hassle at a gas station if you ever have this problem. You probably already know there is a manual fuel door release cable you can pull if the push button in the console ever fails to open the fuel filler door. If not, it's under the carpet behind the driver's seat. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, while it's not exactly hard to do, in fact it's quite easy. On the other hand, if you are wearing a light colored shirt you are likely to get it dirty reaching under the carpet. The carpet isn't just lying there, the edges are covered by other trim pieces. If the switch ever fails to open the fuel filler door, you need to pull the carpet back and find the manual release cable to open the fuel filler door. This could be a problem if it's cold or raining, or as mentioned above, if you are not dressed for dusty work. One day while I was working in my garage, I decided to find my manual fuel door release cable since I had never actually seen it other than what I read in the owner's manual. I had to remove the inside liner of the driver's side rear storage compartment in order to be able to pull the carpet back and reveal the manual fuel door release cable. After finding it, I thought how much easier it would be to have an extension to that cable so if I ever needed to use this manual release I wouldn't need to remove two pieces of carpet. So what I did was attach a short piece of mono-filament fishing line to the cable, and just dropped the end in the driver's rear storage compartment. Then just replace the carpet and the liner to the rear storage compartment and forget about. This way if my switch ever fails to open the fuel filler door all I need to do is open the rear storage compartment door and give the line a tug to open the fuel filler door.

2008 Cadillac CTS push button to open trunk sometimes works

Do you know anything about automotive electronic's ? The trunk release is controlled by electronic control modules . Having the vehicle check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's should be the first step in the diagnostic procedure . Then reading how it work's !
Factory service repair info.
Rear Compartment Lid Release System Components
• Body control module (BCM)
• Remote control door lock receiver
• Interior rear compartment lid release switch
• Exterior rear compartment lid release switch
• Rear compartment lid release actuator
• Trunk release relay

Rear Compartment Lid Release Operation
The interior rear compartment lid release switch receives a signal from the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). When the interior rear compartment lid release switch is activated, the signal circuit is pulled to ground. The DDSA interprets this and sends a GMLAN serial data message to the body control module (BCM) requesting the rear compartment lid be released. The BCM responds by applying battery voltage to the trunk release relay control circuit which energizes the TRUNK RELES relay. The trunk release relay is supplied with battery voltage at all times. With the relay coil energized, the relay switch contacts close allowing battery voltage to flow to the rear compartment lid release actuator causing the rear compartment lid to release. The rear compartment lid release actuator is permanently grounded at G402.

The trunk release relay is located in the rear fuse box located under the back seat.

2003 Cadillac deville trunk randomly opens on its own when sitting and not running occasionally what could be the cause.

Do you know anything about automotive electrical testing ? how to read a wiring diagram ? How to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? You can find a free wiring diagram here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html

The trunk release is controlled by an electronic control moduel .
Trunk Release Relay
Output Controls
The rear integration module grounds the trunk relay when commanded ON. The rear compartment should release.

This vehicle has a very complex body control system of three different computers

The body control system consists of the following 3 modules:
• The Dash Integration Module (DIM)
• The Instrument Panel Module (IPM)
• The Rear Integration Module (RIM)
Each of the 3 body control modules integrate a number of functional systems under the control of a single module. Each module is connected to the Class 2 serial data circuit, many of the control functions are implemented by Class 2 messages.

. Rear Integration Module (RIM)
The various RIM inputs and outputs are described in the corresponding functional areas as indicated on the RIM electrical schematics.
The RIM functions include the following:
• Automatic level control
• CIGAR relay control
• Class 2 communication requiring RIM interaction
• Content theft deterrent
• Fuel door control
• Fuel level sensor input
• Heated seat control
• HVAC blower control
• LK/CYL relay control
• Park brake relay control
• Rear defog relay control
• Rear park assist chime control
• Retained accessory power (RAP) relay control
• Reverse relay control
• Transmission shift inhibit
• Trunk release relay control
• Various controls for the interior lamps

Luggage Compartment Description and Operation (General)
Rear Compartment Lid (trunk) release actuation is controlled by the following components.
• Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay
• Instrument Panel Module (IPM)
• Rear Integration Module (RIM)
• Valet Switch
• Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch
• Rear Compartment Lid Release Actuator
Battery voltage for the coil side of the trunk release relay is supplied through the Valet switch (with the valet switch in the OFF position) by the ALDL fuse located in the Underhood Fuse (Bussed) Block. Battery voltage for the switch side of the trunk release relay is supplied by the Body fuse located in the Rear Fuse (Bussed) Block. When the rear compartment lid release switch is momentarily pressed, it provides a ground circuit for the trunk release signal of the Instrument Panel Module (IPM). When the IPM senses that the switch has been activated, it sends a Serial Data Class 2 message to the Rear Integration Module (RIM). The RIM then provides a path to ground on the F/TNK DR REL relay control circuit. The trunk release relay is then energized, and battery voltage is applied through the switch side contacts of the trunk release relay to the rear compartment lid release actuator. The actuator is connected to ground through a ground splice pack located at the left rear corner of the rear compartment, near the left tail lamp connector.

99 chevy lumina reverse lights not working. changed bulbs..nothing. the trunk release which is tied into the same harness also doesn't work. don't know if this is related. is there a switch t

This is a failure of the "remote function actuation module". It is located under the rear deck next to the right rear speaker. The rear seat must be removed to access it along with removing the rear deck. It controls the trunk release, door locks, dome light, and reverse light. My remote trunk release stopped working along with the relase button on the dash along with the reverse lights failing at the same time. The module is over $150 so I would try to find a way to rewire the lights to work without the module.

Both doors on right hand side won't open anymore (manually or with remote control) How can I open them? Fuse is OK

You have 4 doors with 4 electronic modules. Front doors have "master" modules and rear doors have "slave" modules. Master modules are called DDM and PDM - Driver Door Module and Passenger Door Module. These modules communicate directly to the main computer via CAN bus.

But module in the rear door communicates only with the module in the front toor on the same side of the car via LIN bus.
So if the CAN communication channel is broken (wires may get broken where the doors are attached) then on that side of the car doors will not lock/unlock anymore, interior lights will not turn on, windows can't be opened and closed anymore from the remote control on that side of the vehicle. You may just repair the wires.

The other, expensive option is, that DDM or PDM electronic module is dead. Then take it to the shop for repair with the new module...

The rear door will not open from outside or inside

Your lock cylinder has fail in what is called central arrest which it mechanically disengages both inner and outer door handles to work. We at the dealer can try and command the GM module which controls that actuator to try and release central arrest. But if it fails to respond the only way to access the lock cylinder is by removing the door panel from the inside of the vehicle, which is very dificult to do, so cost wise it can be double the labor cost if the door can be opened. At our dealer it would be like 2.5hrs to do.
