You'll have to remove the throttle body to replace the idle air control (IAC) valve. First, disconnect the negative ground cable from the battery. Then remove the vacuum line and air duct intake. Then disconnect the IAC and throttle position sensor (TPS) electrical connections. Remove the coolant hoses that are connected to the IAC. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body. Now, remove the 4 bolts that hold the throttle body to the manifold and remove. Be careful with the gasket located between the throttle body and manifold and replace it in the same position. On your clean work surface, turn the throttle body over and remove the 4 phillips head screws holding the IAC to the throttle body. Clean the parts with a dry cloth but do not use solvents on the IAC or TPS. That's it!

I need to replace the idle control module. Where is the idle control module located of 2003 mitsubishi galant 2.0 liter engine?

We don't have a galant with a 2.0 engine in the USA - - the idle air control valve should be mounted on the side of the throttle body.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

2004 Mitsubishi Galant sometimes struggles to start the engine & drops RPM's when I brake or the car is on a complete stop. (just replaced alternador)

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

This is a common issue on this car. You definitely have a faulty IAC (idle air control) valve. If the IAC is faulty the car is hard to start, may experience an erratic idle or just stalls when depressing the brakes. The IAC is located on the throttle body so you will need to have it replaced to resolve the issue.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Bad idle air control valve. Most likely needs to be replaced. I'm guessing you have around 125K miles on your Galant, right? See other posts for solution.

When we drive the galant it dies when we dont give it gas. only stay started when we use the gas petal.

Sounds like an issue with the idle air control motor.

The idle air control motor keeps the vehicle running when you are not pushing on the gas pedal.

You need to replace the idle air control motor.

1996 Galant runs rough until gas pedal pressed about quarter way down, then runs fine.Car is running lean. Not sure how to check if fuel pump is working correct,or maybe MAS?

You should have your TPS and EGR looked at as those cause rough idles...Other causes are bad idle air control valve, bad plugs, bad distributor cap & rotor, a bad wire, bad O2 sensor, etc...
