I recently purchased a used 2006 Taurus; 3.0 liter. Everything is good, but suddenly the wipers stopped operating. I don't have the owners manual so I about to go guessing about fuses and such. Where is a good starting point and a couple of alternative testing ideas I could try. I know the previous owner had installed a stereo system and removed on his own. Perhaps somethinf related to this should be looked at? Sure would appreciate not having to re-invent the wheel!

The fuse panel is under the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. Lift the handle to unlatch the panel and pull it down. The windshield wiper/washer system uses a circuit breaker in position #2 in the fuse panel. If your washer is working the circuit breaker is OK.

Removal & Installation
To Remove:
To Install:
Always rotate the wiper operating arm in a clockwise motion or damage to the motor could occur.
Here is the picture of the motor....it is the round object in the middle of the picture that looks like a can and has a square block on the end of it.
You have to remove the cowl vent panel....just under the windshield. $64.00 for a new motor.
Testimonial: "Fast and accurate response."

2 ways of dealing with this. Install a new motor or put up with it until you install a new motor. I usually give it a very light tap with a hammer or a wrench & they start working fine at least for a while
SOURCE: where is the windshield wiper relay module located
there are two relays for the wiper run park relay and high / low relay they are located in the battery junction box under the hood and they are on the left side middle above the rows of fuses.
let me know if you have any more question.
