2003xtype idles rough when starting up in the morning for the 1st time. while driving when pressing down on the accelerator more than half way to pass another vehicle it misses. please help . the engine light is now on also. i have 142000 miles. i bought it a year and 6 months ago at 96000 miles kept regular oil change and bought new battery.

My suggestion to this is to check the basics. Check fuel pressure and check spark during crank. There is no quick answer for a no start condition. You always have to start by checking the basics. An engine with no spark or fuel will not start every time.

Does the car always hesitate during acceleration? If it ALWAYS struggles when it starts or ALWAYS hesitates on acceleration then I would say the issue is fuel delivery. If the problems are more intermittent and come-and-go then it could be an electrical issue.

I would start by changing the fuel filter. Changing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor are all good things to do as your budget will allow. I doubt you will have to change your injectors.

If you end up replacing any rubber fuel line, be sure to use the high-pressure stuff made for use on fuel injected cars.

this may be a sticking air flue meter take a matchstick .and push it into the hose this will let more air in if this works change the air flue meter

Over tightening wont give you a problem untill you try to get them out again but incorrect plug type could give you that problem but if the knock is a deep sound under heavy acceleration it could be a big end bearing for your sake i hope not. Good luck.

i would do a tune up and this should fix your problem, i think the coil packs are around $30 a piece, you can just replace the spark plugs first, then if needed the coil packs. Hope this helped Tim
