How to change water pump on a 1995 crown victoria after you have nothing but the pulley and water pump left and there connected

There should be four bolts between the back of the pulley and the water pump holding the pulley on the water pump. You can either try to remove them before you take the water pump off the engine (not recommended), or remove the four (I think) bolts holding the water pump to the engine block, remove the water pump, ten remove the four bolts holding the pulley to the water pump shaft (recommended). Good luck.

How do you change water pump on a olds 98 regency

first pop the hood and locate the water pump pulley. drain the coolant into a suitable container. there will be alot of it so get a big container.use the correct size socket and loosen the four small bolts on the pulley.DO NOT TAKE THEM ALL THE WAY OUT YET. find the tensioner pulley and put a socket on the bolt and lift the pulley to release the pressure on the fan belt and slip it off the water pump pulley.now remove the bolts from the water pump pulley. now all you have to do is remove the bolts that attach the pump to the engine block. remove the pump and clean the surface of the the engine block where the pump connects to the block. don't scratch the matting surface of the block.oh disconnect the coolant hoses that attach to the water pump.BE CAREFUL THE COOLANT WILL DRAIN OUT OF THE BLOCK AND HOSES. DOGS AND CATS ARE ATTRACTED TO THE COOLANT, IT WILL KILL THEM IF THEY DRINK IT.have fun

Trying to replace the water pump on my Saturn SL2 1993. I removed the 3 bolts of the pulley, but there is no room to get teh pulley out (its right up against the engine compartment wall. How do I remove...

Check and note this procedure Water Pump - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
(see Figures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5)
  1. Allow a sufficient amount of time for the engine to cool down.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the engine coolant from the radiator and block drains into a suitable clean container.
CAUTION When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant may be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
  1. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle and support safely using suitable jackstands. Remove the right front tire and inner wheel well splash shield.
  3. If access to the water pump is desired from underhood, remove the air conditioning compressor bolts and position the compressor aside with the refrigerant lines intact.
  4. Spray the water pump hub with penetrating oil to loosen any rust or corrosion that might bind the pulley and damage it during removal.
  5. Remove the water pump pulley bolts and allow the pulley to hang freely on the hub. A 1 in. (25.4mm) block of wood or a hammer handle may be wedged between the pump and crankshaft pulleys to hold the assembly while loosening the retaining bolts.
  6. Move the pulley outward or remove as necessary for access and remove the 6 water pump flange bolts. Carefully pull the pump and pulley assembly away from the engine and remove the assembly from the vehicle. If necessary, a gasket scraper may be inserted under the flange, but be careful not to damage the machined aluminum block sealing surface.
To install:
  1. Thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces of all old gasket material. Apply a small amount of gasket sealant at the outer edges of the bolt holes to hold the gasket in place, then install the gasket onto the water pump assembly.
  2. Install the pump assembly with the small bump located next to one of the attaching bolts in the 11 o'clock position. Install and tighten the bolts in a crisscross sequence as shown to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  3. Install or reposition the pump pulley, as applicable and tighten the bolts to 19 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). If the pump hub exposed through the pulley is rusty, clean it with a wire brush and apply a thin coat of primer to prevent the pulley from rusting onto the hub.
  4. Install the serpentine drive belt, the right splash shield and right tire assembly.
  5. If repositioned, install the air conditioning compressor.
  6. Close the radiator drain plug and install the cylinder block drain plug. Tighten the block plug to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm).
  7. Connect the negative battery cable and properly fill the engine cooling system.
  8. Operate the engine and check for coolant leaks

How do I get the pulley off that is in the way of ONE of the water pump bolts. The pulley has a allen wrench fastener in the center. I tried turning it left and right and it will not budge. There are...

I've gone as far as loosening the motor mounts and raising the engine with a jack. You still have to shoot through the wheel well with a long extension and socket for some bolts on that side.

How do i change a water pump on 1996 grand cherokee limited V8

I'll assume you have a 4.0l

The 4.0L engine is equipped with a reverse rotation (counterclockwise) water pump. The word REVERSE is stamped or imprinted on the cover of the viscous fan drive and on the inner side of t he fan. The letter R is stamped onto the water pump impeller. When replacing water pump, ensure proper pump is installed. Installation of the wrong water pump will cause engine overheating.

NOTE:On models with 4.0 L engine, front grill must be removed to access radiator draincock. Draining cooling system can be accomplished by removing drain plug from side of block as well as by loosening radiator draincock. Drain plug is located on lower left side of engine block.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Disconnect electric cooling fan connector. Remove electric cooling fan and electric fan shroud assembly (if equipped).
Loosen, but do not remove, 4 water pump pulley-to-water pump hub bolts and 4 viscous fan-to-idler pulley nuts. Remove accessory drive belt. Remove 4 viscous fan to idler pulley nuts, and remove fan and shroud together.
Remove 4 water pump pulley bolts and remove pulley. Remove power steering pump and bracket. Disconnect heater hoses and lower radiator hose at water pump. Remove 4 water pump retaining bolts. Remove water pump.

to install just reverse procedures
