Hi .
If you have a BMW factory code for your audio/radio equipment get it, if you don't have a code and have a coded radio/audio system it's not that easy !
*First rule is disconnect the NEG terminal first always.(it's the smaller of the two terminals (-) .
Some radio savers will allow you to connect a slave battery sourse to the car to mentain the 12v supply in order to save audio equip codes.
Most if not all suppliers of battery's will fit the replacement battery FOC , but you will need the code's in most cases ,,, (a slave 12v supply will not erase radio codes)
If you don't have coded factory fitted audio equip , Happy days. refer to (*)

I have a 04 760li with the v12. i need to replace the battery. any ideas how it comes out. where do i start.

Hi rej0,

The battery is located in the rr corner of the trunk. You will need to removed the carpeted trim and floor cover over the spare wheel in the trunk. Next remove the clamp that secures the spare wheel. Then remove the spare wheel. You will also find the roll stop in the wheel well secured with a wing nut. Remove it too. Using a 10mm socket, first loosen the negative battery cable, then the positive battery cable. You will also need to remove the battery clamp near the bottom corner of the battery. The battery can then be slid out into the spare wheel well. Make sure to reinstall the overflow tube, (grey in color) into the replacement battery. Reassemble in reverse order. It is important that you use a replacement battery with the same amp/hr rating. ie. 90 or usually 110ah.

Wont start battery and starter work fine. sprayed

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Looks like that you have a faulty coil pack. If the coil pack is faulty it tends not to give current to the plugs. No wonder the car will not start. The coil pack is located at the side of the engine, you will need to remove the cap where the plug wires are connected. Once you removed the cap you will gain access to the coil pack. You will need to pull it out and have it replaced.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Hi!!

The battery is located in the fender, ahead of the right front tire. Te battery can be removed without reovint the tire, but removing it improves access.

Here is how to remove/replace the battery

Disconnect battery cables, negative first, then positive from remote terminals.

Remove air filter housing

Remove the two battery hold down clamp bolts and clamp.

Loosen right front tire lug nuts, rise the vehicle, support it w/jackstand and remove wheel.

Remove battery cover/splash shield from wheel well

Slide battery toward rear of vehicle and disconnect battery cables.

My car dont start security light stays on and no cranking soung

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all you’ll need to check battery voltage, recharge it if it is low or jump start with another battery charger. Inspect, clean and tight both ends of all battery cables. Also check, clean and tight wiring connections. Check for voltage at relay. If relay has voltage but there is no "click" when key is turned to start, replace relay. Remove starter and inspect drive gear and flywheel teeth, replace damaged parts if necessary. Check to see if voltage reaches starter relay/solenoid when turn to start. If not, check for open P/N switch and brake or clutch pedal switch. Replace the parts which are defective.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Need to get my battery charged in 2004 dodge stratus do not know how to get to the battery . I assume i need a gharge because the car ius completely dead

Hi Ellen. The battery on your stratus is located in the left (driver side) fender in front of the wheel. There are battery terminals under the hood though, which you can use to jump start or charge the battery from. If the battery needs to be replaced, the easiest way would be to remove the left front wheel and then an access panel in front of the wheel. The wheel does not need to be removed, according to the manual, but it does make things easier. This is a 30 minute procedure to remove the battery. All this info and more is available in the cars owners manual. If you don't have the manual, you can download it for free at this site: there is a diagram of the under hood terminals.

Mercury Cougar 1999 V6 Starting problem.

To remove the alternator, you have to remove the serpentine belt. They have a tensioner in which you place a socket wrench and pull on it and it loosens the belt. Before removing the belt notice how it is routed. Some vehicles have a diagram on the hood or on the front near the grill. You take the belt off. Then you remove the alternator by removing the bolts attaching the alternator to the engine. There are two or three bolts you have to remove. Two of them are fairly big bolts. About a size 14 metric or so. Disconnect the negative battery cable battery so you won't hit any grounds. Then take off the plugs from the alternator and the small nuts that hold the wires. Notice how they are placed before removing so you can know where each plug goes. Then replace the new alternator. Plug it back up and install the same way you took it out.Replace the belt starting from the left to right and pull on the tensioner and reinstall.
