Re: I have no breaks on my van peddel goes down to floor
Did you check the brake fluid level? if its low, you may have a broken brake line. look for a wet area under the van. Most likely you have rusted brake lines and need them all replaced. expensive.
If you are handy, buy the brake lines (AutoZone) and do the repair yourself. Cost will be $50. Or bring it into the shop for about $300-$500If you are handy, buy the brake lines (AutoZone) and do the repair yourself. Cost will be $50. Or bring it into the shop for about $300-$500

Bleed the complete system starting with the rear passenger caliper if you don't have a bleed box get someone to help you and have them pump the brakes three to five times and hold it down then open the little 3/8 bleeder located on the inner side of the caliper the brake pedal will go to the floor but make sure they do not release the pedal until you close the bleeder back up then repeat until there is no air in the lines then move to the rear driver side repeat steps above then front passenger side then front driver side. hope this helps Jeff J&D services
On your break peddel under your dash is a break switch. It has come loose and needs to be readjusted. It is very easy to do. Just drop ya pannle under your dash and you will see the switch on ya breake peddel. It has to be touching the break rod in order to shut the break light out. Only when you push on the break does it make a conection. Lossen the nut and turn it out untill your lights go out and then retighten the nut. The break lights should come on when you move the break peddle and inch. Hope this helps.
Hi there?
The brake light switch is faulty or is NOT secured. When the brake pedal is released it pushes the pin on the brake switch to switch the lights off. If the pin is not getting pushed in proparly then the lights stay on. check the switch. Good luck................
Sounds like you have a vacuum booster issue or a brake master cylinder going out. If you know of an independent mechanic the Vacuum Booster test is simple. It is recommended to replace both the booster and the master cylinder at the same time.
you need to hold in the metering valve.when you bleed the front brakes.long as the valve closed off you wont be able to bleed front brakes.better to get extra help.hard to bleed by your self .
It will take two people, one to push clutch peddel, and one to open bleeder, same as bleeding breaks, the person pushing peddel pumps peddel a few times and the last time holds to floor, other person opens bleeder to let air out, and then closes bleeder while peedel is still depressed, do this process over and over untill you get clutch or a steady stream of fluid with no air , while keeping an eye on fluid level in resavor.
Most likely you don't need a new break light switch, its just out of ajustment, some have threads where you can screw it in and out in the bracket that holds it, thats for ajustment, it should be just above the break peddel under dash it will have a electrical plug going to it, just unplug it to move it back and forth for ajustment, it works off the break peddel arm, it has a plunger that goes in and out thats what activates the break lights.
Chk. for vacume to booster, or loss of vacume like a break in vacume hose, do you hear a hissing noise when you step on break peddel. If you don't hear anything chanses are its the booster. When peddel gets hard to push you either lost vacume or booster went bad.
