The dash lights on our 2002 dodge caravan aren't working. I've looked in the owners manual and can't find anywhere where it says dash lights. Is this a fuse or a lightbulb issue, and what do I do to fix it?
In the fuse panel under the hood beside the battery there is a fuse marked IOD in your nearest right hand corner facing the vehicle. Pull the fuse, wait 3 min. Reinstall fuse.
No kiddin'. That's it.
Yes that was the quickest easiest fix I ever did. Thanks to good people like you we dont have to get screwed by anyone, the world needs more people like yuo Thanks The Repoman

Any clue now when I turn the ignition key (and I have auxillary power) sometimes it doesnt turn over it is just like dead and i'll try a few more times and then it turns over? Just trying to narrow down the issues so I am not throwing unneeded funds into the van when I really can't. Thank you again.

Itsatypo suggested worked!!!! THANK YOU:) I simply removed the IOD fuse, walked outside to see if the fuse was still good, reinserted and dash board lights worked! I can't believe I fixed the problem all by myself...my husband will be shocked!
The problem with the dash lights being totally out was solved by removing the negative battery cable being removed for 5 minutes and reinstalling it. After I did that, the dash lights are now working! Thank you for all the great feedback.
Dash lights still not working. Replaced the headlight switch, tried IOD fuse removal and disconnecting the battery (1998 Dodge Grand Caravan). There must be some reset....somewhere. Also, I took the dash cluster (speedometer and stuff) and checked all of the light bulbs. All good. Really baffled.
Don
I did it too, thanks to all veterans here on FixYa!
My simptomps: No dash lights (speed, rpm, gas, gears, fuel) and no signal lights.
500$ dollars repair for 20cents in 10 minutes:
Disengage battery , open fuse box, pull 20A HZD (its written on the box cover) fuse out, saw that its dead (the two wires in fuse don't connect) and replace it!
Thank you all,Luka
My mom tried to jump-start a friend's dead car with her caravan, but her friend accidentally reversed the polarity of the jumper cables... the caravan had similar symptoms, all I had to do to fix it was disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes, and then reconnect it. The computer apparently froze when the jumper cables got improperly connected, but disconnecting the battery seemed to reset it- She had that problem in late 2003, and hasn't had an issue since
The fuse and fuse box for the Dash lights and a few other accessories will not be found anywhere because there is no secondary fuse panel/box for this year and model (2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport Manufacture date of 8/01). Chrysler uses Body control Modules and other types of modules in place of the Fuse Panel/Box. I have found out that the Body control module is located under the dash behind the Brake Pedal is where alot of your unlisted accessories will be. In my case the 12+Volt power wire (white with red stripe) was loose when i tapped into it when installing the remote starter . It is going to be the top plug where you will find the White with red stripe wire (make sure you disconnect the battery before you do anything). I found that the female connector (of the White with red stripe wire) that snaps into the plug was defective and wasnt making contact on the Body control module. To repair it I cut off the female connector and replaced it with a new one from my local auto parts store but make sure you bring in the female connector that is bad so you can match it up because its not our typical female connector. I crimped the female connector and snapped it back into the plug then I plugged it into the body control module. I checked my Dash lights, reverse lights and i finally had power to them. I will try to get pictures soon. A helpful tip I used was the READY REMOTE website that has a specific Year Make and Model of your wire diagram. I hope this will be helpful. http://www.readyremote.com/main.asp
Thank you very much that I actually did works it's always great to look up something on the internet that actually does help people
To change the instrument panel light bulbs the instrument cluster, back panel, wire connector and printed circuit board have to be removed. Remove the bulb by rotating the bulb socket counterclockwise one-quarter turn and remove from the circuit board. Pull bulb straight out of holder. Installation is the reverse.
Just picked up a low-mileage 2002 Frand Caravan Sport. Mechanically it seems fine, during the day everything seemed to work. Night came around and no cluster lights, no lights on the radio, AC panel, etc. Found the "pull the IOD fuse" suggestion, waited the requisite 3 minutes, put it back in and bingo! Cluster, radio and AC lights are all back on. Thanks so much for the excellent tip.
This vehicle has what looks to be another warning light panel mounted on top of the dash above the cluster... the turn signal indicators light up at either end, but I don't see anything else coming on up there. (The normal oil/check-engine/low-voltage etc lights look like they're in the cluster... any hints as to where i can find out what that upper module does (besides the turn signals)?? Thanks again.
Itsatypo,
that at worked for me! Thank you for saving from standing out in the cold hitting my fuse box with a hammer.
Ok for all you fellas whose 2002 dodge caravan instrument cluster guages including odometer and rpm, turnsignal, hazard light not working, after doing lenghty diagnostic, found no power to hazard fuse, remove battery and found blue connector very corroded and one wire was totally corroded and broken off, used another wire with terminal from another fuse box(made a pigtail) and soldered it and it fixed the problem
ok i cannot edit so remove battery, remove bolts that holddown fuse box, look under fuse box for corrossionfound no power to hazard fuse, remove battery and found blue connector very corroded and one wire was totally corroded and broken off, used another wire with terminal from another fuse box(made a pigtail) and soldered it and it fixed the problem

I also cannot find the fuse or any data on this problem ( I have the exact same problem); I've checked every fuse in the module under the hood--they are all good. So where could the fuse be for the dash lights? Also There is nothing in the manuals on how to change the dash light bulbs. HELP!!
I have the same problem with my 2002 caravan, However I noticed the dash lights, cruise control and the upper cigarrete lighter not working at the same time. I have not discovered the problem yet. From reading another trouble shooting sight I found out that the number 6 fuse (green with clear top) has to be pulled out and test for continuety. If it fail replaced.
When I turn on the front lights, they wont come on and there is an overall electric power failure, the engine keeps running but I cannot turn on the lights or the AC
When I turn on the headlights on my 2002 Grand Caravan, the instrument cluster lighting does not work nor does the lighting for the heater and blower fan controls. I have checked all the fuses, but none are relavent to dash or interior lighting. Can anyone offer any assistance to the problem? I have read other blogs and some are saying BCM. I would appreciate any help with this
I have the same problem. Dash lights do not come on.
WE have the exact same problem...no dash or heater or radio lights...anyone find a solution yet?
2002 Dodge Grand Caravan with electronic 3-zone climate control, most of the indicator lights have gone out (like the power on/off button, temp up/down buttons, etc). I thought they were replaceable bulbs, but apparently they're not. You have to replace the entire control panel. Nice job, Dodge!
2002 Dodge Grand Caravan with electronic 3-zone climate control, most of the indicator lights have gone out. I thought they were replaceable bulbs, but when I went to dealer to find out how to replace them I found out you need to buy an entire front control panel. Nice job Dodge!
I have the same problem. The lights on the cluster panel as well as the radio, fan etc don't work as well. All other lights are working. I have checked the fuses under the hood and they all are in good shape. I don't think it can be a buld since the lighting failure is in different areas. I looked for another location for fuses and couldn't find anything under the dash.
Any suggestions?
I am sooo EXCITED!! "itsatypo's" suggestion worked!! we now have dash lights in our van...THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
