I have a 2004 mercedes benz, e500. The "hood open!" light comes on on the dashboard when the car is in motion but goes out when stops. I opened and closed the hood tightly but the problem continues. What should I do?

pump seems to be over running or stuck at max find pump disconnect it then disconnect battery reverse procedure u should be fine . unless air hose to shocks is stopped up somehow my caddy did the same thing
Remove the bulb from under the hood this will brack the cirecut and if the inside lights goes out its a bad bulb there is no system that is that specfic to the hood light that will effect how the vehicle runs. But its kind of like my refrigerator is that light on with the door closed . I couldn't resist saying that .Not to make sport of you its likely a shorted connection at the bulb a ground issue or a bad bulb it can't have any big effect on the vehicle running correctely
That is the same as a Check Engine Light. You are either over due for an Oil and Air Filter change or a sensor is going bad. If your in the United states go to one of the Major Auto Parts stores and ask them to connect their code reader to the vehicle and identify the fault code and that will tell you what is wrong.
Most likely pin switch in the hood area ground has corroded not giving a good signal or switch is bad. Replace as needed and have the area preped on change out.
let me start by saying "great car!". the way to reset the light is to have someone with a scanner turn it out. if it just came on, note the code that they see prior to reseting the light. cheers

The code P2767 definition is ,
Transmission input shaft speed sensor?turbine shaft (TSS)sensor B no signal..
Now in English it means the speed sensor is either faulty or bad connection,I would suspect the sensor, but worth getting checked by a transmission specialist,
