Chevy transmission i need to know what year my turbo 350 transmission is?I have a vin number off of it.

It doesn't really matter, as long as your starter is matched to your flex plate.

This information is all in the VIN # anything you want to know .
Where it was made the date time of day if you want to know for most things on your vehicle .
Go to a Chevy dealer with the VIN # and ask them to look it up and they SHOULD BE ABLE to tell you what ever you need to know

yeah this will work....most 350 big blocks come with either a 350, 350 turbo or 400 turbo transmissions.....bolt pattern is the same

It should be the 700 r4 transmission with the 350 block,
unless someone changed it out, it could be a turbo 350, if the truck is a 3/4 ton.
if you have 3 gears and over drive it is a 700 r4
only 3 gears turbo 350

If you look at the bottom of the transmission pan and one corner is sort of cut off a triangle portion, the tranny is a 350 Turbo-Glide,
If the transmission pan is square, it's a 400 (best!)
There should be a tag on the transmission, an aluminum tag which has a number on it.
If this is a factory transmission, the VIN number will also indicate which transmission it is. Just call the dealer with this info.

The computer runs the Transmission from the signals the throttle position sensor, crank shaft sensor, and cam shaft sensor. Your going to have to replace the transmission with an older transmission like the turbo 350 or turbo 400. When it's time to get the car e-tested, that's when your going to run in to problems, due to the year your Chevy is. If your Chevy was a 1985 then you could go with the carb system but with being the newer OBD11 system, your going to have an off road only vehicle with that swap. Why would you want to replace the engine with the 350 carb set up??? There are things you can do to tweak the one in your Chevy free of charge.

you will most probably need a beefed up tranny to take the power of the engine, I have just installed a 350 supercharged chevy motor in my sons car with a Turbo 350 transmission and a shift kit which I have been told by an auto trans mechanic may not take the power of that engine.
It is costing him $1500 australian to have it reconditioned so I hope it will survive the rides

if you have the engine out itheir is a vin num stamped on the rear of the heads ,olso if its a small block shuch as a 350 327 305 or even the 400 small block90% of the engine parts are enter changeable,
their shoulf also be a vin number stamped on the block right above the top bolt of the water pump on the drivers side
