Hi an orange coil light has just started flashing on the dash board

either the crank sensor or the coil packs are the usual causes , if post 1996 get the obd codes read as will tell which one earlier models have obd I and is not as reliable , google obdI for your model if pre 1996 for list and procedure

This is check engine light and comes on when there is a failure of a sensor or some ignition control device. codes will determin which part is of concern. Disconnect battery for a few minutes to see if this resets or comes on again. access codes and repair as indicated by codes the problem component

Its the Engine Management light. Yon need to get the fault codes read.

That orange light means that you must have your braking system check...most probably it's the pads wear indicators that are earthing warning you that the pads are worn.

i have one of these and i dont remember seeing an orange coil light ,stops lights will be the switch no doubt so should be easy to replace,just join the wires on the switch together and see if stop lights work ,if not check for a feed if you have a feed then look at bulbs and bulb holders and earth to bulb holders.But this coil symbol?? has me intrigued tell me more

thats the heater coil symbol for the diesel engines.
does it stay solid at beginning as normal?
if the car drives normal, then maybe its just a loose connection/wire somewhere
