1995 Dodge Stratus. I do not have the car with me to check the fuse panel cover, but I really don't recall anything on the cover'

  • Anonymous Dec 14, 2010

My son seems to think that it happens when it is cold. He said that in the morning and night it blew the fuse, but when he tried it around 2 pm it started with no problem. We tried jiggling the steering wheel but not the key itself. I'll try that when I get home. Thanks.

Its possible that you have problems with the contacts on the ignition switches, or starter; are you check the battery charge?

Sometimes a car may have an intermittent problem, when it starts fine most of the time, but once in a while it doesn't. Such problems, that are not presented at all times, could be very difficult to diagnose. What will help your mechanic to find such an intermittent problem is if you notice when, under what conditions the car doesn't start and what helps to get it started. For example, if you notice that wiggling the ignition key helps to get the car started, it may tell your mechanic that the problem is likely with the ignition switch (very common problem). Or if the security light flashes on the instrument panel each time the car doesn't start could tell your mechanic to begin with checking anti-theft system.

Please clarify your question. What exactly is not working?

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2010

    Which fuse is it?
i.e. Main, alternator, ignition, starter, fuel pump, injectors

  • Anonymous Dec 14, 2010

Let's start with the year, make and model. And look on the fuse panel cover there may be a number or letters describing the different fuses. Other wise, once I have the vehicle info I can help you figure out what to look for.

Stuck eldorado key in DTS ignition now car won't start

Make sure your steering wheel isn't locked. Sometimes a key won't turn until you jiggle the wheel while trying to turn the key.

2004 buick rendezvous sometimes won't start. clicks but won't turn over. replaced starter, battery, and ignition switch. what now??

We just went through this with our 2003 Rendevous. Clicking like crazy but wouldn't start. Replaced the starter but still doing the same thing. Our next step was going to be replace the battery (which tested well) and the ignition assembly. Out of frustration, I hit the top of the hood and the headlights came on!! Further investigaton proved that the problem was a corroded ground wire on the battery. Hope this helps

2004 chrysler pacific will start sometimes but sometimes won't

I would suspect the fuel pump is the problem, it may be sticking at times and this causes a no start. The pump is located inside the fuel tank and it is electric.

1998 Plymouth grand voyager ignition won't turn

I have had this happen on my 98 Voyager. Just have a new key cut. This new key will sometimes cure the problem. The older keys get worn out and won't unlock the ignition. Try this before a much more expensive and time consuming change of the ignition.
