If it's crank /nostart the fuel pump is locater under the back seat in a trap door you can check for current there.

Stick shift? Check the clutch petal switch at the upper end of the clutch petal. It's common for them to pop out

The fuse to check is the 30 amp injection fuse. It's next to the battery as shown below. you can interrogate the relay socket or check for voltage at the fuel pump connector. The latter is the surest way to know if it's the pump versus the circuit. The green and black wires at the fuel pump connector are the ones that run the pump. Not sure where the relays are, but I see 3 along the firewall in the pic below--hopefully they are labeled. To interrogate a relay socket, see my post at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6022358-relay_check .

The fuel pump reset switch on your vehicle is located in a small compartment on the left side of the luggage compartment.

Let me know if you have questions.

I'm trying to find the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump fuse (if there is one) on a 1995 Ford Escort 1.9L wagon.

Yes there is a fuse and a relay in the underhood fuse / relay box . Ford doesn't lable their fuse boxes with the name of the componet the fuse protects . They number the fuse . Plus there is the inertia fuel cut off switch ,lives behind the passenger side foot well kick panel .

The inertiaswitch was reset by simply pushing the red button on the switch. The switch could also be manually pushed to turn off the fuel pump, which worked nice for turning off the fuel pump when servicing the fuel system. Like it or hate it, FordsInertiaswitch was still a great safety feature. But why then would Ford stop using them?

Kia sportage cranks but seldom starts??

Have you checked the fuel pump relay to see if it is sending power to the pump ? The computer grounds the relay when the computer "sees" oil pressure or engine RPM.

My 92 lincoln town car will not start i have replaced the starter, the neutral safety switch and the battery but when i turn key nothing happens but can jump starter and will crank

Yes there is a starter relay in the wiring diagram.
The yellow and lite blue wire goes from the starter solenoid to the relay. There is a yellow wire from the relay to a 30amp fuse. The key switch powers thru the neutral safety switch and then powers the relay on.

I have a 06 f150 5.4L the fuel sending unit went out so i had to change to pump and everything, the pickup ran fine before but wen i put the new pump in it will not work so i tried resetting the fuel pump...

Hello, There is a fuel pump Relay in the Powerbox under the hood. The system works this way. When you turn on the Ignition switch, it trips the Fuel pump Relay. The power is routed to the fuse from the Relay and then to the Inertia (safety) cutoff switch. Finally the power reaches the Fuel pump.

You need to test the fuse holder for power before it flows through the fuse. You should have the Ignition on, in order for the Fuel pump Relay to provide power to the fuse. Although the fuse may be good, it can not work without power.

On most Models, the horn Relay is the same part as the Relay on the Fuel pump. Just check your part numbers and swap out the two parts and see if it helps.

Have a 97 Ford Aspire. This past winter had electrical work done to it, replaced starter, new plug wires, car turns over seems to be no power to fuel pump. Is there a fuel pump relay hiding somewhere?

Yes, there is a relay and there is also an inertia switch. The inertia switch is usually in the door pillar by the passenger's right foot. There are some relays by the flasher in the picture below. Check to see if any of those have the wire colors (green, yellow, and white) shown on the fuel pump relay diagram. Otherwise the relay may be mounted to the fenderwell or firewall in the engine compartment. You can determine whether or not the inertia switch is closed by checking the resistance of the relay green wire to ground. The resistance should only be a few ohms if the switch is closed, whereas it will be infinite if the switch is open. The yellow wire to the relay should be hot when the key is on. The white wire to the relay is the turn-on wire from the PCM. That wire should be ground when the key is on. If not, suspect your anti-theft system (PATS) has malfunctioned and perhaps is not seeing the transponder pellet in the factory key. The security light would flash rapidly if that were the case. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

97 isuzu trooper. Starter motor has no power.

Check the battery and cables going to the starter. Weak arc? Possible that the relay needs to be rechecked now. The inertia switch may also be a possibility. Has the car been in a recent fender bender?

No power going to the fuel pump!

There are four relays under the hood on the drivers side fender. I think the order is main, ignition, ????, Fan. The second one from the driver is the relay for the fuel pump(ignition). Don't quote me, but I think you should measure 12v from both sides to ground when the pump should be on.
