I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500-V6 Magnum..I had the water pump changed last year..And now when i turn on the heater it smells like antifreeze.Could this mean my heater core is bad?..And also when on defrost the air comes out the bottom.I did notice the a/c in the summer when i driving the air supply went crazy going from vent to the defrost on the dash.Give it gas and it went to the bottom.Let off went back to defrost vents.

Get under the hood and check for a vacuum leak, make sure everything was plugged back in like hoses!

SOURCE: Ford F150 2003 When I press the max cool on the AC the air comes out of the windshield defrost vent iinstead of the cabin vents and is not as cold as it use to be. Summer in Texas Help !

You did not mention if the system you have is electronic(digital control) or manual(control knobs) but what your problem is, is a vacuum leak. Defrost and heat or the default postions for no vacuum. If it works ok until you press max air Then you will need to check the outside blend door vacuum motor. It will be the white vacuum line going from the control head.

SOURCE: Heat wont blow through heater or defroster vents

common problem, check under dash by the gas pedal if control arms are muving went selecting from ac to heat cuz this it is the control for the vents to go from ac to heat and to defrost.

SOURCE: PROBLEM WHEN SELECTING THE DIRECTION FOR THE AIR

Sounds like you have a supply vacuum problem. When you lose supply vacuum to the control head it defaults to defrost.

SOURCE: A/C not blowing thru vents just defroster and floor

It is a vent door actuator motor on top of the blower box,the dash has to be removed and set in the seats to replace the actuator motor.Cost for the part is about 50.00 dollars

Can you tell me why my truck smells antifreezy when I started

Is the heater or ac fan on....? Where is the smell coming from?

my thought are if smell coming from exhaust, you have a head gasket problem.

If smell coming from AC or heater, likely a heater core leaking!

The 5.7 hemi 2006 dodge ram 1500 losing coolant tekućinu.U hole oil emulsion is created and drops of antifreeze. At the bar there is no oil emulsion oil is clean.

II got a dodge 1500 4.7. The problem is, the oil cab is all green and im losing coolant all the time, there's smoke coming out smells bad, but no check engine at all. So I took it to a shop to check it they said, it's a water pump ,I changed the water pump but still losing coolant ............ so is it head gasket, manifold gasket, valve stem seal, piston rings, or something I don't know of??

When i run my 1996 dodge ram 1500 it smells like antifreeze. i had the head changed but it smells like antifreeze. what could be the problem?

check the coolant level to see if it has dropped. Then look under the engine, for any leaks.Look for pools of coolant on top of the engine,or run down on the sides of the engine. Then look for radiator hoses, ans heater hoses that are leaking. If you are loosing antifreeze ,and you are sure the coolant is going somewhere, you may sill have a head,or head gasket, that are bad.If it has not been long before the head change, then the antifreeze may be still present in the exhaust,or on the engine,so you may have to wait a little longer for smell to disapate.Cleaning the engine can help.

Heater Core Leaking 2001 GMC Sierra 5.3. I have a strong antifreeze smell in the cab and this morning the heater fogged up the windows. I have read that replacing the heater core also involves evacuating...

you could quick fix! but you will have no heat, 1st under the hood, look at the back of motor, follow all you're radiator hoses, take two hoses off the heater core stick a pipe that is big enough then clamp the pipe down. to both sides of hoses to the pipe you will eventually have to replace heater core!!
