Sounds like something isn't wired right. Is solenoid staying on after start? Take positive cable loose from starter and listen to solenoid when you turn key to start and then release--does the solenoid click off, or does it not click off until you turn the key off? If the latter, there is a feedback wire from the starter post to the solenoid start terminal.
Also sounds like alternator is dead or has internal short. I would take the alt wires loose until you get the starter problem fixed. Then maybe take that alternator to be tested.
If this is not the problem, can you start over for me and tell me why you changed the solenoid, etc.?
Solenoid on passenger firewall is brand new, starter rebuilt, battery new. Did load test on used alternator, holding amps at 12.. Had problem with ignition switch, put key in ignition, could not turn. Had to use screwdriver and put beside key in ignition to start the vehicle. Would the ignition modular be going? Can this be tested? I am talking to you from a town in Alberta, Canada. Winter weather is here? Worked fine this summer? Thanks!
here is an easy way to test the ignition switch. Pull the start wire--the one from the ignition switch--off of the solenoid. Hook a test light to the start wire and connect the clip to ground. Turn the key to start, and the test light should light. Release the key, and the light SHOULD GO OUT. If not, replace the switch.

Is your starter staying engaged after starting? if so probably ignition switch.
If the starter is staying engaged, then the bendix of the starter is not working right. If I pulled the main wire ( big one) ground off , would the truck die. Yes.! Had a problem with ignition switch, put key in ignition, and then need screwdriver to turn ignition. This truck has approximately 400,000 kilometers on it. Does not burn oil, all front end suspension fixed, tie rod ends, ball joint, etc.
