The engine light stays on, it has an 02 sensor. It may need a new cadillac converter and cv joint.

Check engine light on when tested it says bad o2 sensor did you replace 02 sensor it takes driveing it so many miles before light will go off give it couple days you dont need cadillac converter check engine light will go off cv joint they click as you turn dont let a mechanic sell you something you dont need its very rare for cadillac converters to go bad its common for o2 sensors to go bad like yours did but when 02 sensors are replaced it takes driveing it for awhile before it resets itself you also have more then one 02 sensor was then wrong one replaced they screw into your exaust manifold

Grinding when applying gas engine temp light dings on but doesn't stay on it happens when I try to dig deep and when im shifting gears but then it smooths out at a constant speed

the light could be low coolant level sensor in the radiator top tank
Acceleration moves the water away from the probe breaking contact and putting the light on
grinding could be from a failing cv or "U" joint in a drive shaft

I doubt it.
Usually the CV joints make noise on turns.
You would need to figure out if the delay in moving the gas pedal is engine or trans. If the engine RPM does not change, its an engine problem.
Could be the throttle position sensor, or a fuel problem. The miss could be ignition or fuel related. The ticking could be a spark knock as if you were using cheap gas. Or an exhaust leak.
Is the check engine light on ?

Hello,
If your pretty sure it is the Exhaust light. It is referring to your emissions, Like Cadillac converter. I doubt it is a problem with the Cadillac converter itself, but most likely it has to do with your 02 sensor that is part of the Cadillac converter emissions. What I would do, is you can take your car into a Auto Zone, they have a hand held device (computer) and they can tell you the code that comes up, but i am pretty sure this is a emissions problem , which mostly likely is your 02 sensor. Let me know. Mike

My 02 deville just had 3 different converters installed because check engine still reads catylist error bank one what do I do now?

If a new converter does not fix it, it seems obvious that the O2 sensor that SET the code in the first place may be defective (or connector or the harness)- the converter has to 'light off' (get hot enough) for the O2 sensor to see that it is doing it's job-if it cannot see that, you either have other engine issues or you Bank 2 sensor is too old/coated with lots of miles on it to react properly or the heater circuit or harness/connector is bad.

Break and abs light on

If your abs and brake light are on, first check to make certain that there is enough fluid in the brake reservoir. Next, you will have to check the abs sensors on each wheel for damage. Generally, the sensors are easily found because they are attached to a wire near your cv joints. If your sensor are ok, then the next probable cause could be a ring(s) on your cv joint(s) has damaged and require replacing the entire cv joint. Also, if your check engine light is on, have the light read for possible codes.

Good Luck

How do i replace a cv joint on 1999 cadillac eldorado

lots of trouble and expense and all you get is one new joint. trade that labor expense and for about the same money get a new or reconditioned axle that has 2 good cv joints, boots, and new axle. and you can change out the whole axle yourself much easier than the joint.

Check engine light came on recently. Car then

The exhaust system has two 02 sensors One before the cat converter and one after. The #2 02 behind the cat converter is the one that trips the light if emmisions are unacceptable coming out of the converter. The #1 or front 02 sensor monitors and constantly adjusts the fuel to stay within parameters. If the #2 tries to compensate for an inefficient converter and it conflicts with the #1 02, the ebgine will run poorly due to either too rich or too lean fuel adjustment. Have the #2 02 sensor replaced and the converter checked. Good luck

Check engine light stays on

You can try to clean them with carb cleaner and a tooth brush but if it has a heated 02 sensor most likely the heater is burned out and will need to be replaced, it would be the one before the catalytic converter. Sometimes the 02 sensor gets slow and will not read fast enough if that’s the case then the piezoelectric coating is malfunctioning so again you have to replace the 02 sensor, they refer this as a lazy 02 sensor, it does not cycle fast enough.
