My 2006 Freestar was hesitating (or sort of jumping) at around 70 km/h and then yesterday was doing the same when I got tried to excellerate at about 100 km/h (on the highway). By the time I got home it was starting to do the same at lower speeds and making a clunking sound when it did it. This morning it wouldn't even start. It will turn over but will then make a clunking and then quit. Any suggestions.

Sounds a lot like the fuel pump for a starter. When it acts up does the vehicle jerk or buck before picking up speed? I have also had the experience with just one spark plug wire or plug bad. You can check this by pulling each wire one at a time while engine is running. If the motor slows that plug and wire are fine. If no change in rpm check the plug and wire.

SOURCE: my truck blows white smoke

Hello!
There are two differnt reasons for black and white smoke coming from the tail pipe.
Black smoke means fuel runs rich (car getting to much gas). Check fuel pressure/air filter.
In some cases the white smoke means car is burning oil or transmittion fluid. Have tem checked/replaced.
If you can feel a smelly smoke it can be catalytic converter.
In a worsest scenario if car blowing white smoke it can be engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder from a bad head gasket ,or a warped/cracked head. So you need to keep your eye on coolant level and check your engine for overheat. Also might be good to check your oil for traces of coolant (on a dipstick it would be a milky substance mixture of oil and coolant).
Good Luck

SOURCE: Won't start. Starter is good. 99 Crown Vic

If the battery is good, have it checked, then the cables,or there connections are bad, make sure the connections are shiny clean,on the battery post, and the cable ends, side post connections on battery need to be clean also.If the connections are clean, like this, then the cables are bad, either ground,or positive,or both. When trying to crank the engine, while it is being turned over, feel of both cables, witch ever one heats up,is bad.You may have to remove fuel pump fuse to keep it from starting,so that you can do this test.

Take it to an auto parts store and have them read the trouble codes. Most do it for free. But DON'T follow the advice they give! They alway recommend replacing any sensor that's listed in the code. Since this happened right after a fill up, I'm guessing it's most likely an EVAP code. Read this post on what that means. Then post the code here and we can help.
