Took 2000 dodge intrepid 3.2 engine to shop. NO heat. they sd it was the ac/heat control panel. they replaced it, when i picked my car up, still no heat. went and got another part from junk yard, now will blow warm air on med setting, but will not get hot and blows colder air on full blast. someone suggested that my heater core may be clogged and that its not able to cycle all the way threw and thats why i have to leave it on med setting...any suggestions?

The fact that after you changed the part from the junk yard it blew warm air indicates that the heater core is not the problem
could be the heater control is not fully opening or the junk yard replacement part is faulty

SOURCE: i have a 2000 dodge caravan, no heat

Sounds like the air "blend" door might be inoperable. This door opens and closes a specified amount to regulate the amount of either cooled or heated air, as requested by the climate control unit. If the door is continually in the position which is bypassing the heater core (cold setting), the air will not get warm regardless of the condition/operation of the heater core. I'd suggest having this component checked.

SOURCE: Heater doesn't blow hot air

First check the coolant level in the radiator. Check your heater core hoses on the firewall underneath the hood. Let the car come up to temp. and feel the two hoses. If only one of them is getting hot you may have bad heater core or a bad heater control valve.

SOURCE: 2000 Dodge RAM no HEAT/ New heater core / AC evap.

There is a actuator on the right side of your leg while sitting in the drivers seat under the dash. It has a plastic rod for actuation manually actuate this diverter and should be the problem.

SOURCE: My heater in my dodge caravan does not blow hot

First of all make sure your anti-freeze is at specification level's as well as make sure With the engine cold start the vehicle remove the radiator cap and make sure you see the flow of anti-freeze while keeping your hands as well as your clothing away from moving parts feel both hoses going into your heater core if the one on top of hot one on the bottom is cold then you have a Clogged heater core in which case you will need to flush the system . a simple garden hose will do the trick simply remove Both hoses to the heater core with the hose at the bottom line apply the garden hose until liquid comes out at the top of the other hose will probably see a lot of gunk. Also ensure that the vacuum line to the round ball under the hood is connected and not dry rotted.this will cause a vacuum leak to not allow the switch to fully engage from cold to hot. I hope this helps you.

Engine sqeals when front defogger is turned on.

sounds like the ac compressor may be locked up when defroster is turned on..there is a disconnect by the ac ompressor pulley that can be unplugged and the belt should turn free..defrost will work but need to check the compressor before its needed in summer..replace if needed..

Air conditioner

That AC sealant is DEATH to anyone or anything who breathes that poison, and in the shop we have a tester to determine if sealant is present in the AC system, That is the very first thing that is done when you bring your vehicle in for an AC service, and if the AC system showed any traces of that sealant then that vehicle got parked outside and the owner called to pick it up because most repair shops will not even want your vehicle in their shop if that stuff is in your AC system.

That sealant works by reaction with moisture, and if you breath it in it will basically seal off your lungs and you will be dead before help will even get to you. They were supposed to stop producing that AC sealant and I am surprised that you found some.

You should have a leak detection flourescent dye added to your AC system the next time that you have it charged, and then you will be able to find out exactly what is leaking and repair it once and for all.

Over heating 2000 Dogde Intrepid 3.2L

Hey Ninja,,, a bad thermostat will not cause the belt to break,,. BUT a locked up A/C compressor will, anything that is locked up or not freely working will cause the belt to break.. MAYBE the water pump is locked up and you are forcing it to try to turn.. this will give you the symptoms you describe..

Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid?

If it is a 3.5 it is located on the front of the engine on the drivers side under the plenum.

1998 Intrepid..."bad PCM?"

Did they ever try to read any dtc's (diagnostic Trouble Codes)? It sounds like they are not sure what they are doing. Throwing parts at a problem can eventually correct the problem but it may cost you more than the value of the vehicle. When you first took it in to get the ac repaired, was the vehicle stalling at that time or was that after the first time they worked on it? If the check engine light is coming on then there is a code that will point to the problem area, not much guess work needed here. 02 sensors will not stall the engine while driving exept perhaps at a stop light where the engine needs to idle. The 02 sensor simply provides an input to the PCM (primary control module) so that the PCM can make fine fuel trim adjustments, not enough of an adjustment to kill an engine while driving. You may want to find another shop with knowlegable techs to simply read the codes and repair the true problem.

You need a radiator. It's 13 years old, replace it without hesitation. Now, why is the engine light on, have you had the codes read?
