My 1994 Toyota wont start or even try to turn over with a new battery in it. Lights and everything work. The starter wont even try to kick in. I drove the truck one day went to drive it the next day and wont do a thing. Replaced altenator fuse and put a new battery in it. Plus took off altenator had it looked at and it was fine. Whats the problem you think?

I'll make another vote for the solenoid ... especially if the truck would click then start before not starting at all. There are replaceable contacts that run about $10. Removing the starter is not a lot of fun.

I SEEN MANY THINGS CAUSE YOUR PROBLEM BAD BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE. A BAD STARTER SOLENOID OR BAD STARTER. BAD MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SAFETY SWITCH OR FAULTY TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH WILL STOP STARTER FROM CRANKING ENGINE.IF BATTERY CABLES OLD AS VECHICLE REPLACE THEM.TURN OFF RADIO IF YOU REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE TO KEEP FROM LOCKING OUT RADIO.

1997 Toyota Tacoma new battery, clamps,& fuses.wont turn over NO sounds when key is turned .lights are only thing working????? . What am I missing

Have you tried tapping on the starter then trying to start the vehicle may be a bad spot in starter usually if no sound when trying to start and new battery will mean the starter is no good . Starter can be found by following the positive cable off the battery.

Overdrive switch is broken, brake is stuck, and car wont start, what can I do to fix it?

Well obviously if switch is broke, it'll need to be replaced.

Which brake is stuck? The E-brake or one of the brake calipers?

Check your cables over real good for corrosion from battery to starter. Just because lights work doesn't mean they're making good enough contact to spin the engine over.
Turn the lights on, then try to start the car, do the lights dim down or do they stay the same? if they dim real bad then it could be a bad ground, if they don't dim, it could be the starter or starter relay or a bad positive cable for the starter, you really need to get a volt meter and test for power.

My metro wont start at all with a new battery

I have had a similar problem which resulted from a worn starter motor. You say you put in a new battery not just charged the old one right? With my car, the engine would make a single click noise when i tried to start it. that was it. music played lights would go on but no engine. Check with your mechaninc if you think it might be the starter. I dont want you to buy a new one and realize your starter was not the problem

My 1994 toyota camry the starter wont turn over when it gets cold? the starter is good and the battery is good. after a few turns of the keys it will start and after it gets warm i wont have the problem...

My starter tested great in several shops also but a friend of mine said my starter is an original part and would be the "weakest link" in trying to correct the problem of turning over. No one had a solution so I got a new starter and WOW it works perfectly every morning, etc!

1994 Camry wont turn or do anything for that matter

Hello,
The red wire is the starter wire, this is the main wire that connects to your starter switch to tell the relay to turn over that starts your car, the other wires are the ingnition wires, these wires is what allows the vehicle to turn on (lights, radio, engine,)
What it sounds like he did when he removed the alarm module was disconnect the power wire that supplys the starter switch.
Try tracing the wire back to where it is connected and see if there is any wire cut the same way as the other end.
try connecting a a remote starter switch from the battery directly to the starter solenoid. this will allow you to see if the wiring inside the car is disconnected or if it is the starter.

94 z wont start

You will have to check, at the starter, for power to the SMALL wire on the starter solenoid (which is on the starter) when turning the ignition switch to start.
If there is power to this wire ( usually purple ) and power at the LARGE cable ( from the battery ) at the starter end.....you need a starter.

If you do not have power at the small wire at the solenoid with the key in start position and battery power is OK.....check the safety neutral switch.Moving the shifter around a little can sometimes allow the car to start if the neutral switch is worn.

A new battery does not always mean a fully charged battery.
Try a boost from another car before testing the starter for power.

The battery cables need to be clean and tight....and check the ground to the engine as well.

Everything else may work OK with bad connections, they don't use the power the starter needs to turn the engine over.

I have a manual 1994 acura integra ls and it will not even turn over at all. All of the lights come on the dash and everything else works but it just wont turn over what could b the problem.

try to put your car in neutral with your parking brakes on, rev on the gas and start the car at the same time. if that doesn't work, your ignition coils may need to be replace.

It wont start

Hi I am Vortash .. check your earth leads from the battery to the chassis and from the chassis to the engine , check the starter solenoid usually you can see them better from underneath , always attached at the clutch starter ring on the bell housing between the gearbox and the engine . check ignition switch .. and of course battery and alternator .. if you never used lights the previous night ( early evening before light up ) the car may not have been charging and you just where lucky to get home on the juice in the battery but not enough to start it now .. hope this helps regards Vortash .

94 gmc sierra wont turn over

first, turn the key and see if all the lights on th dash board come on and look at the dome lights and the head lights, if they all come on. then it is not the battery. go on and check the fuse that feels the starter it should be in the hood compactment in hood relay box or under the steering at the left kick panel. if it is blowen replace and try starting. if not check the starter solenoid unplug the connector that goes to the solenoid and apply 12v to it. if it turn over, the starter is ok. you problem may be in the ignition system or switch. if this help let me know
