Equates to just short of 18 miles per Imperial gallon which depending on how you drive, where you drive and a load of other variables could be a fairly respectable consumption.
You forgot to supply year and model details - there is about seven versions of the VG30 engine with a variety of carbs, injection, supercharger or turbo charger.
The best fuel economy from any vehicle depends on keeping it in the best order from the ground upwards, driving sympathetically and not hauling the weight of unnecessary junk around.
By from the ground upwards, I mean the right tyre choice, the right pressures and the correct wheel alignment - get these wrong and it can increase consumption between 4 and 10 mpg without considering anything else...
If you decide to post again, please provide more details including what work you have already undertaken to improve consumption.
the alternator is not working, is incorrectly wired up, has an open circuit to the regulator
Disconnecting a battery when running is a sure fire way to destroy the rectifier block in the alternator.
not sure what year model it changed over but it either unscrews from the filter housing(and the water sensor in the bottom of it),or you undo a cover and it is in a canister
If it has fuel injection it cannot be adjusted.
If it has carburetor then one can turn a screw on the carburetor, but I think that your 1992 Nissan has fuel injection (electronically controlled idle).
