My 1994 buick park ave's transmission started slipping and finally quit pulling..after cutting the motor off for a few minutes it would pull again. I replaced the trans filter and that solved the problem for about 3 weeks . Now I only have 1st, 2nd, and Reverse. 3rd tries to but wont fully engage and I suspect the shift control module. I unplugged the one on top of the trans while running and shut the car off. let it set for about 20 minutes and plugged it back in and it shifted right for about a mile. how does this sensor come out? Do I have to drop the trans to get it out?Any help would be appreciated.

It's not electronic, It's a hydraulic problem, you need to drive it with a pressure gauge on the line pressure port to see if the pump pressure is dropping to zero at stop signs.

SOURCE: try to locate body control module on a 94 buick park ave

BCM --The Body Control Module is located on the right side of the vehicle and positioned under the instrument panel. In order to gain access to the module, it will be necessary to first remove the trim panel.

There is a recall for the transmission that involves your exact problem. Call a dealer and see if your VIN is eligible for the recall. Check the NHTSA website for the exact details.

SOURCE: transmission

There is a problem with the valve in the valve body of those transmissions. It might be too late to add a transmission lubricant since we use them prior to this event so this won't happen, but you might try Lube Guard Additive. If that doesn't work the transmission will need to be overhauled, but don't forget to use that additive after the job is done to keep this from happening in the future.

I doubt it has anything to do with the transmission.
When the brake pads wear most have a wear sensor that drags along the rotor.
Have you pulled the wheels and checked the brake pads ?
