Same problem mine will only work when it is warm out because of the gasket. When there is the slightest difference in colder temperatures I need to press on the top of the sun roof while hitting the button to have it slide. Using the gasket cleaner may be a good idea. I haven't tried that yet though so don't take my word

I had a similar problem when I bought my used 99 Legacy. The dealer was going to replace the sun roof, but never followed through. Mine would open every now & then. Once when I got it opened, I cleaned the rubber gaskets with silicon lubricant. Since then the roof has always opened for me. That was 3 years ago, and it is still works every time!

Junkyard for around $250, +/-. Easy job, but need time, room and patience as entire headliner has to come out to access and replace.

I had the same issue caused by a broken cable. Subaru does not sell just the cable, you need to purchase the entire assembly. The total bill was $1100, parts and labor.

2011 Legacy. I forced close the internal sliding part on the sunroof. The outer part, the glass, won't close all of the way now. Can i fix it myself?

I suggest going to your car dealership or calling your manufacturer. I do not suggest you doing it yourself due to the many possibilities of your sunroof breaking.

My subaru (1990 Legacy) sunroof won't open. There

Ever since I had mine, and when the previous owner did, had the same problem, except that this one hangs up. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I thought it was a faulty mechanism as we fiddled with it and then it worked until the next time. Same thing. . It also could be a faulty electrical system. I needed a new alternator, since that resupplies the energy and if it's low then some things might not work so well. During rainy season I don't use it. I'm always afraid it will get stuck open and I end up with an unwanted shower.

Starter

I would go straight to the starter solenoid connector(under spare tire) and check for 12v signal while turning the key. If there are 12volts present with key in start...replace starter motor. This is the most probable and fastest way to check you no crank condition.Realy is under dash, driver side in the event you want to access that.

1990 subaru legacy sunroof stuck open how do we get it closed?

Maybe the screws that hold the rails on are lose. Check for any looseness and tighten what ever can be tightened.
