I have a 95 F-350 crew cab with the 7.3l international turbo diesel that will randomly shut down while driving. i've checked the filters, and the fuel/water separator. i've also put additive in the tank and it has not done much to help the problem. the truck will start right back up after 30sec to 2 min after shutting the ignition completely off
I have a 2002 F250 7.3L and I'm also having the same issues. I have had 3 Cam Sensors replaced two of which have been replaced in the past week. I also have a Power Programmer and the DTC code it is showing is the 0340 which is the Cam Sensor. I know that Ford has a recall on these sensors but it's not working. There is something else going on and no one has any ideas. I had same issue especially when cold outside. Changed CPS worked and still does. Still occasionally shuts off though but no where near as often. Twice as month now as opposed to 5-10 times a day.
I had a similar problem. The truck ran fine cold, but after it warmed up it would shut down. It ended up being the high pressure oil pump. Once the oil thinned out it couldn't keep up. Explanation. The injectors are oil driven. It was expensive, but fixed the problem.
I had the same problem on mine,after troubleshooting for some time i changed what i think was called the crank possitioning sensor located at the timing mark where we used to shoot the timing light in the old days.
Have the Cam Position Sensor changed. Ford has a recall to replace it to the new style. Typically the CPS does not cause an intermittent problem b ut mine did the same and stopped once the CPS was changed. If Ford will not fix it the new sensor is around $20-25.

How many miles on the truck? Replace the air filter.Check all aftercooler lines for air leaks.Check your turbo to be sure the seal is not leaking causing the engine to **** oil thru the turbo. You may need to clean the fuel system.Add 32 oz of Power Service 911 to your fuel. If none of this helps and you have a high mileage truck it may be time to replace the injectors
check your vacuum storage unit or vaccum pump supply, remember diesel motors dont make vacuum like internal combustion gas powered engines do.. they have an auxilary vacuum motor and resovior to store vacuum to eliminate a lag time in vacuum supply...please rate my help..thanks...
ok ive experienced this same problem, my dad has the same year truck as u.first year powerstroke, you have to remove the turbo, there will be one bolt in the turbo stand, u will need a 10mm universal joint for a 1/4 inch drive ratchet, to remove it, but under the turbo stang there will be 2 O rings, replace those and u will be set to go.
