A couple of weeks ago I went out to start my Kia Sedona 08, however, found it was dead. I connected up battery to another car and jump started first time (and ran it for 30mins). It then started fine for the next couple of days, however, the same thing happened again (again it started first time when connected up battery to another car). However, now I need to charge it each day to get it started - do I need a new battery? We are currently experiencing extremely cold temperatures would this continue to drain battery each night?

Sounds like a battery to me. The cold doesnt drain the battery it just makes it more difficult to produce enough energy to crank the car. If the battery is weak already, the cold just makes it worse. Replace it and move on!

Kia sedona battery draining

The battery may be draining due to a software issue. The dealer can reprogram the system for a known defect which allows some systems to remain powered when the vehicle is off. 20 minute warranty fix at the dealer.

My 2003 Kia Sedona won't start. There is a ticking noise when I try to turn ignition. Radio, lights, etc. work, so it must not be the battery. We tried to jump it, but that didn't help. I'm very low on...

Ticking noise--maybe the solenold on the starter

Things light up--of coarse, they only use a small
amount of current

Gasoline Frozen--ever see that happen

Tried to jump it--can not jump a dead battery

DEAD BATTERY-or bad solenoid contacts

Turns over but wont start

Briannatara:

Some questions to help in the analysis........

You say "it cranked for about 3 seconds and died as if I turned off the key" did it actually start and then die?
Have there been any clues (unusual happenings) recently that might relate to the current problem?

Is there a reason the battery went dead? was something left on? Lights, etc?

How old is the battery?
