There are few possibilities that are to be checked.:---- Engine cranks normally, but it does not fire:
You turn the key to start and hear the starter motor crank the engine, but when you release the key, the cranking stops and there is silence. This means that the battery and starting motor are working properly, but the engine is not firing. If you continue cranking the engine over in this way, the battery will eventually run down and will need to be recharged, but the battery and starter are not the cause of your problem.
There are a number of causes for this type of no-start condition, the most common being that you are simply out of gas. Assuming that you have fuel in the tank, you will need to go through a series of tests to determine what is causing the problem. The testing procedure is as follows:---
Spark:---------An easy way to test for spark is with an inexpensive spark tester. This is a device that is readily available at most auto supply stores. You use it by simply holding it next to a spark plug wire. If you see the neon lamp flashing while someone cranks the engine, then you have spark and should move on to checking for fuel. If there is no spark, or a very weak spark, you will have to replace the spark plug or the coil pack.It has to be checked. Fuel:
First step here is to listen for the fuel pump running inside the gas tank. When you turn the key to run, you should easily hear the pump come on, run for a few seconds to build fuel pressure, then turn off. If you do not hear it, it could mean that the fuel pump or circuitry is bad. (Fuel pump failure is a common problem).
Fuel injected cars are very sensitive to proper fuel pressure. If the pressure is off, even by a few pounds, it will cause noticeable performance problems, or a no-start condition. To check for proper fuel pressure, you will need a fuel pressure gauge that is suitable for your type of system.Or you can also get the fuel pressure tested at local car garage,If fuel pressure is low then its a fuel pump and fuel filter related problem. Compression:

If you know that you have spark and fuel, the next step is to check for compression. For this, you will need a mechanic's grade compression tester that will screw into a spark plug hole. You will need to remove the spark plugs and use the compression tester to test the compression on each cylinder. If the compression is very low on all cylinders, that is a sure sign that the timing belt (or timing chain depending on the engine) has failed and will have to be replaced.

-------------

This troubleshooting will let you know the problem.Thanks.

2004 RangeRiver HSE ??? Range rover hse Your vehicle does not have a fuel cut off switch . A relay controlled by the engine control module is what turns it on . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop. One that has the proper diagnostic skills an tools .

2004 nissan turn over but wont start. replace fuel pump and still got the same result

could be a problem with engine electrical or still with fuel delivery. unhook a fuel injector line while it cranks and see if it shoots out spurts gas, just as the fuel pump line is supposed to shoot out a stream of gas while cranking. if you replaced the fuel pump, and no gas shoots out the disconnected fuel pump line, there is an electrical problem, (fuse, relay or wiring issue) to your new fuel pump. if the gas spurts out the loose injector line, then move on to electrical:

first ensure your ignition coil has spark by disconnecting the coil ouput lead and shorting it out to the chassis of the car. you should see a spark, when you short that circuit while cranking. if you have spark, you will have to move on to the spark plugs/ cables, then the distributor cap/coil packs.

if its part of the electrical system, it will be sensitive to temperature/humidity, and that may be why it only fails to start early in the morning. if it were the fuel injector, it would be more likely to start cold, and NOT re-start after it had already been warmed up and cut off recently.

I have a 2004 land rover freelander and it cut off after fitting in injector now it just cranks and won"t start

If the injector you fitted is faulty..it wont build fuel pressure and start.Have an injector leak off test done to identify if injector(s) are faulty or not. Also check the low pressure pump underneath drivers rear behind wheel...will often jam before failing...if it dont run with ignition on / cranking...give it a little tap.

Where is the location of fuel shut off please? is it manual reset? could changing the battery have engaged the immobilizer?

To be honest Phil-- I do not know or work on a
Range Rover

But in my 50 years of experience, I have only seen &
heard of Ford & some Mazda Products, that every had
a Fuel Safety Shut Off Switch & they should only open
& shut off the fuel pump, if you have a very hard & serious
accident.

You should be able to Google the question

Sometimes my 2007 range rover has a ruff start feels like the gas isnt reaching the engine and we replaced the fuel pump?

Seeing as how the injectors have already been out I would bet that is your problem ! Go to a main Dealer or a good indy LR specialist who will hook up to a diagnostic center and tell you

Are you saying it will start at some point in time ?
A no start condition requires you to figure out if it has no spark to the plugs or no fuel to the injectors.

My discovery 2 is a pain to start when it's cold sounds like it's only firing on two cylinders it's deisel,I've had a new head and head gasket fitted it smokes really bad and gradually picks up revs when...

would need to play with it and try it myself when its cold, but i would be inclined to check out the glow plugs and maybe even have the injectors reset before playing with teh injector pump ,also fitting a non return valve in the fuel inlet line and one in the return in case the valves in the injector pump are starting to play up
