If the fluid level (DOT 3) in your clutch master cylinder dropped low enough you may have introduced air into the hydraulic line. First, you need to find the leak and fix it. If it is a very small leak and the fluid loss was over a long period of time, adding new fluid and pumping the clutch pedal many times, waiting, and doing it again, may solve your problem. You can also bleed the line with the bleed fitting on the side of the slave cylinder. Pumping the clutch usually works. If this resolves the problem, keep an eye on the fluid level. Update: Sometimes, due to the shape of the clutch hydraulic line, between the master cylinder and slave cylinder, air gets trapped in the high point and bleeding it becomes impossible. Here's what I did: I got another master cylinder cap and rubber gasket (junkyard) and drilled a hole in the center of the cap and then cut the tip (Bottom) off the rubber gasket to allow air flow through it. I then installed a male air fitting in the hole of the junkyard cap. I reduced the air pressure regulator on my compressor to 0 psi and bleed the line off. I then hooked the hose from my compressor (using the fitting) to the modified cap. Add Dot3 in the master cylinder, place modified gasket and modified cap on the master cylinder. Adjust the air regulator to 15-20 psi. Now, open the bleed valve on the slave cylinder slowly and allow the air pressure to force the Dot3 through the line as you bleed the line. Be sure to keep and eye on the fluid level in the Master cylinder...DON'T force air in the line. Disconnect the air hose from the cap, refill Master Cylinder, hook hose back up. Repeat! Keep your special tool for next time or your buddy!

How do i shorten the clutch pedal

It should be a hydraulic clutch so no adjustment is possible.
The rod to the clutch master cyl may be adjustable but I doubt it.

How do adjust the clutch it catch's at the top of my 1990 ford rager

There is no adjustment to the ranger clutch as it is hydraulic if it is giving additional resistance in the peddle you probably need a new master or slave cylinder.

Need to know how to bleed clutch for 1995 ford ranger

Does the clutch have the outer clutch slave or is it inside the clutch plate area, to know look on the left or right side for a clutch slave cylinder if it does not have one it's internal and a pain. If it has an out side one fill the master reservoir then go under the truck and crack open the bleed valve on the cylinder have someone pres the clutch pedal all the way down and hold it to the floor, then close bleed valve then allow the clutch back up and have them push it to the floor open bleed valve and close when all air comes out do this till the arm moves it's full travel about 2 inches. And if its one with a master inside the transmission it has to be power bleed and normally you can’t do it without pulling the transmission.

1983 Ford Ranger Gear grinding

Your clue is probably that when you pump the clutch twice that it works. I don't know about the 83's but the 96 or so on up have automatic clutch adjustment & when the clutch is worn out that part will not adjust anymore and will create the problem, just like th 97 that i have & haven't changed the clutch yet... (too lazy - waiting for it to totally quit before i fix it) So my guess is that if you haven't changed the clutch, pressure plate t/a bearing stuff, you may need to do that. Ford guys should have told you that.... hope this helps, rick
