I have a 91 s10 2wd 5spd with a 2.5 4cyl... i bought the truck with the brakes not working, it had a bad rear brakeline that was cracked right in front of the rear driver tire. and since this truck is going be a lowrider/mini truck, i want the least amount of things near the rear axle as possible because im going to eventualy do a 4link... so i tried to cap off the rear brakes completely by putting a bolt in the master cylinder where the line to the rear brakes was supposed to be. While checking the brake peddal for more pressure before bleeding the brakes, i discovered that when the truck is off the brake peddal builds up a little bit of pressure but then when i start the truck the brake peddal goes straight to the floor, iv also tried replacing the vacume hose and the conector/valve that plugs the vacume hose into the booster. i also noticed the brake light on my dash flickers as i play with the brake peddal or try to pump it to see if i can get any bit of pressure into the peddal well the truck is running but nothing happens, the peddal just continues to go to the floor. can you tell me whats wrong with my brakes or maybe what im doing wrong???? thanks

The master cyclinder is divided into diagonal wheels. meaning that each line from the master cyclinder provides fluid to a front wheel and rear wheel. on the front resevoir of the master cyclinder it would be perhaps the left front and right rear brake for example. you need to block the lines going to the rear wheels independently and then bleed the brakes again starting with the wheel furthest from the master cyclinder.

but i check all the brake lines and followed them all under the truck, the way my master cylinder and everything is set up. is the main actual master cylinder has two lines coming out of it and they go to like a lower splitter unit for some reason and only two lines still come out of that, one of them follows the frame and goes to a splitter thats mounted on top of the pumpkin on the rear axle an the splitter splits it into two lines going to each rear line.
then the other line coming out of the unit thing under the master cylinder goes to a splitter down by the driver side a-arm and has two lines coming out of it and going to both front tires, there not crossed like you said... is there a possibility i can get rid of that whole unit thing under the master cylinder and just cap off one of the two holes on the actual master cylinder and use the other hole for a line that goes to the splitter that that has two lines going to both front tires???

How often should you bleed the brakes for a 2006 ford freestar?

You only need to bleed the brakes when you crack the system to put on a new caliper or pads or shoes or slave cylinder or brakeline or flex hose etc.

Grinding sound when turning

Can be a number of things. Sometimes when a caliper tries to "float" which is a proper return of the caliper after braking, the brake hoses are hung or attached incorrectly and bind. This causes the calipers to rub as the brake hose limits the travel of the caliper. As the brake pad wears, more looseness develops and also causes the caliper to be pulled even more crooked.

The shortness of the brakeline caused by improper attachment OR failing to lengthen the brakeline by installing lift kits can result in a problem.

Next, could be the C-V joints in a 4x4 or the balljoints in all front suspension.

Brake lights stay on and brake pedal does not come all the way back up even when car is turned off

Okay, you either have a bad Master cylinder, Brake booster or Brake pedal lever problem.

Look under the dash at the top of the brake pedal lever. See if any switches are binding, check the bolt that goes through the brake pedal lever.

If all is good, then the Master cylinder and Brake booster should be looked at.

There is one other possibility that requires a bit more work. Sometimes when a brakeline, anywhere on the car, collapses internally, it acts like a flap. This prevents the fluid from returning to the Master cylinder.

You would start by jacking up each wheel, with the trans in Neutral for the rear if a rear drive, and try to turn the individual wheel. Any wheel which drags bad is still holding hydraulic brake fluid and is why the Master cylinder is not returning to a normal position. The insides of that brakeline has collapsed.

How long is the brakeline on a 1991 gmc sierrra

When I just replaced my rear brake line, I bought the full roll, because it was cheaper than buying 3 - 6" sections and possibly having any leak / connection issues.

Replaced brakelines know pedal goes to floor

You either have a leak in the the system or your master cylinder is bad and allowing the pedal to push through the cylinder without bulding pressure. Check all the wheels for signs of a leak, if none and the brake fluid resivoir is full then the master cylinder on the back of the firewall is bad. These can be rebuilt very cheaply and you can do this yourself with parts from the parts store.

How come my 91 talon tsi awd 5spd wont start

Possible bad starter , low voltage in battery meaning dead battery or just bad and corroded connections at battery post and starter. Try cleaning connections and recharge battery if needed.

Replace rear passenger brake line on 1993 cutlass oldsmobile, line rusted in the middle of the car frame and blew a leak.

If you want to do this yourself, just remove the brakeline. Go to a parts store and buy the length of brake line that you need. Most brake lines are 3/8" or 1/4" so get the right size. Get the brake line fittings. You will need tubing cutter, tubing bender, and flairing tool. Just cut it to the right length, bend it to the right shape, and install it. Presto!!! New brake line! Hope this helps. Good luck.

Brakeline

It is possible to replace a bad portion of brake line using compression fittings, and alot of parts stores do fabricate and sell brakeline if you take the old piece(s) in for a reference. If you do pull the line from the resevoir your going to have to bleed the entire system incuding the master cylinder,If you have the means I would reccomend taking it to a shop that specializes in brakes, they have the tools and experience to do the job correctly and it really shouldn't be to expensive. If you are going to DIY write me back and I'll give you a walk through on the procedure.
