The key is usually attached to the lug wrench at the factory with a wire. If it is not attached to the lug wrench, look for it by the spare or else in the glove box. If you can't find it, buy a new one from the dealer.

What key do i need to get our spare tire off our 1994 ford explorer

The spare tire key/lock on Ford trucks and SUVs is not the same a wheel locks.

This is a very common problem -- Ford's spare tire key being missing in a used truck, van or SUV. Ford has discontinued this spare lock model, because it obviously sucks. Unfortunately, this means your dealership probably can't order the new spare key for you. The company that made them is still around, and you can find out what size it is and re-order, but this is not the best solution.

Here is the best answer I found, for what it's worth.

Remove the spare tire lock completely, and you don't need a key at all. Problem solved. You must first remove the black plastic guide that leads to the spare lock. Then, with a screwdriver push our the lock, or you can pull it out with pliers. Afterwards and forevermore, you can use the black rod extension to turn the spare tire winch mechanism, and it will work beautifully every time.

If you want to read more details about how to remove the lock, and pictures to guide you, check here: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/333925-used-truck-has-no-spare-tire-key-2.html

Also, if you don't want to drive around with your spare unlocked (because, apparently, people steal spare tires), you can get an aftermarket tire lock for a very reasonable price -- and it will work, and be a heck of a lot better than the stock spare lock/key discontinued nightmare.

I can't get the tire locks off, to change a tire

You need a special socket for this operation. Check your glove box or tire change kit where jack & spare tire are located. If you can't find it, go to your Toyota dealer & purchase the socket. Hope this helps. Please recommend this advice if it does help. Thanks

Need to locate where the key to unlock rim to change flat tire is in the car

If you got the car new it is attached to your lug wrench. Otherwise it could be in the glove box or any place. It could have been forgotten when someone did tires, rotated tires, or had brakes checked.

I have a 2004 Ford f250 and I don't have the spare tire key. Where can I get a new one? I've gone to Ford dealers and they told me that they can't get it. I can't get my spare tire down.

If you can gain access to the plastic tube where the spare tire rod slides through to lower the tire. I would remove the tube so you can get to the lock. I would just pop the lock out and leave it out.Good luck,I hope this helps.

I do not have the "key" to remove the spare tire mounted on the

You are needing the wheel lock key for the nut that holds the spare tire on. If yours is lost then you may need to just go to the dealership and see about a replacement or see about borrowing one for a second to remove the lock. If they dont let you or they cost too much you can try and borrow one at any friendly body shop you might encounter. I know that the shop I used to work at kept a set of the most common locks so that we could remove them from wrecked cars.

2005 ford focus, is there a special location that they put the lug nut key?

The lug wrench is
located in a bag next to the spare
tire (3–door and 5–door models) or
on top of the spare tire (sedan and
wagon models). and the key was in this bag.
but they dont always get put back.
im sure you have checked your glove box
if you cant find it any tire repair shop can remove the lock and replace it with a standard one.
good luck

Spare tire key 2002 super duty

Is it a factory installed lock? If it is you might be able to get one at a ford dealer. They can cut a key for door and ignition if you give them the truck's vin (you have to show proof of ownership, registration, title) I don't know if they can use the vin for the spare tire key, but if they can't, drive to a good locksmith, they should be able to make one up w/ the truck @ their store. countrycurt0
