hello Sylvia i think you have had your dash board taken out at some stage previous to your owning it, there is a big electrical connector that hooks up to the printed circuit board behind your dash. you will need to get a techy to pull off the plastic masks around your dash and unscrew the speedo console. we used to get alot of this fault here in New Zealand when sellers of vehicles were clocking the speedo's to show a lower mileage reading on the odometer, very nasty. cheers bucky
have you checked your fuses in your fuse box, that would be the 1st thing , that i would check, look in your owners manual for the location of your fuse box, a lot of times , they are under the instrument panel on the drivers side. and some are under the hood on drivers side, most of the time located in a black plastic box, hope this information was helpful to you.
If you think the dealer caused it get a hold of GM district rep .Talk to the service manager . If the dealer Technician's can't fix it , get the factory involved . In most cases if it is something they did they need to take care of it ,free .
There is a dimmer switch located with the headlight switch, check to see if it is turned up. It is normal for the dash lights to dim some, but if they go all the way out and you can't turn them up then the switch is bad.
Same problem here. I took and hooked a jumper wire from +12 volts controlled by the key switch to the small Gray wire coming off of the dashboard plug. This supplies +12 volts directly to the illumination circuit. Don't know what will happen in the future, but my dash, radio, sic, a/c lights all work.
This happened to my 2002 EXT and two of my buddies Escalades. All 3 were AWD. All we did was replace the Front Hubs. I replaced both Front hubs and the speed sensors. Actually I replaced the speed sensors first because thats what code was coming up, and it didn't fix the problem. So after talking with a freind who is a big time GM Mechanic, he told me it's probably my barrings and since they are sealed I needed to replace the hubs. This is an easy job. I did them myself, and I am by no means a "mechanic".
you should check the fuse panel for a bad fuse you have two fuse panels check your manual for the location of the panels there is one for the instrument light
