When driving my lexus there is now power in increasing exceleration when driving off. what is the problem? also when you crank up the car it wont start, just sound like it wants to start. i think its the starter. but while driving it it continue to smell like exaust and smokes from under the hood. it was fine until someeone claimes he new how to fix my a.c.

Did u check the timing belt. Does it crank over faster than normal?

With Lexus I'd suggest to have authorised mechanic to have it inspected

run fault codes and check for cam/crank position sensors. Check engine immobiliser . Check that the cam shaft is turning (broken timing belt)

Fuel filters are bad, fuel pump is bad.

Check the power steering fluid first

this could be a starter or the enigtion swicth yes if you crank the key to long it will kill the battery.

could be clogged cats or may even be bad crank sensor.

Never heard of a gunpowder smell. The only thing I can think of is the catalidic converter. Under a load, such as sudden acceleration, or low rpm's up a hill, it can release a smell. I would describe it more as like a sulfur or rotten eggs. Could be a small leak in your exhaust system. I doubt anything is leaking and burning off on the exhaust. Anyway check for leaks. On a sunny day so water isn't an issue, park you car over a piece of cardboard, after you drive it and the engine is hot. Next time you drive it check the cardboard. Try to pin point the leak. But I really think it's an exhaust leak.
